Sugar tree
Nice course pro shop staff were not pleasent to non members. Dress code strictly enforced. Nice greens though. Fairways tight under 250 fairly open after that. 90% of the holes are dog left left. Not good for my slice. Overall I would play on a week day not a weekend. Staff could get out of the preppy country club more often though
Keep your diver in the bag.
Knowing the course is a must. Just enjoy your first round and learn where to position your shots for your second round. This is not your cookie cutter course great variety And tons of fun. You will return. Only negative slow fivesomes backing up play everywhere.
Not a course you want to walk
Very nice course but the greens are way to slow. Too many of the greens are out of sight after a good drive off the tee box. But it was fun.
Great gold
Great course. Love playing there. Greens were a little rough in spots but that's normal for this time of year. Over all it's a beautiful course
The course layout is very unique
A lot of holes take the driver out of the bag due to dog legs and tight fairways. You can get into trouble if you don't hit the fairways from the tee. Blind tee shots make it hard the first time around the course. Overall the course layout is much different than other courses in the area because of the elevation changes and fairway shapes. Overall a very fun and challenging course.
Beautiful gem
I've read akot of review about this course so I decided to check it out myself. It's about an hour drive west of Fort Worth but all was worth it. Beautiful lay out with plenty of dog leg holes. Greens were in immaculate shapes on majority of the course, others needed work. Beatiful landscaping and scenery, saw two deer on #12 just chilling by the green. Course can be difficult and greens are small so make ALL shots count or else you will be punching out a lot. I was a single and played 18 in 3 hours and for $10. Can't get much better than that.
Challenging course.
First time to play this course, and really enjoyed the round of golf. Well designed and challenging course that requires accurate ball placement on many holes. Course has fairways elevation changes with some elevated tees and greens along with strategic water placement. One of the most attractive golf courses we have played on in the DFW area. This was a 90 minute drive for us, and we will definitely make the trip again.
Great Day at Sugar Tree
My wife, 2 sons and I had a wonderful day at Sugar Tree. The course was in awesome shape. A little long on some holes for the wife being a begineer player but overall a great experience and very much the drive out there. Very challenging course and beautiful trees --- only problem is they kept on getting in the way of my shots!!
this course was in great shape
been awhile since have played Sugartree and it was in excellent shape ,friendly staff and and was alot of fun.Was glad i remembered the course because has several blind shots,it is well worth the hour it took to get there and will be going back soon
Bring Your A Game!
What a nice change from wide open prairie courses. The trees are magnificent , and challenging ...
hidden gem.worth the drive
Amazing course hidden out in the middle of nowhere. Hit your drives straight or bring lots of balls. Definitely will be playing again even if two hour drive.
Still A Gem
I hadn't played this course in over 8 years. I expected it to totally kick my butt like it did the first time, but several tee boxes were under repair, so I made a few easy pars sine the temporary tee-boxes were moved up a good 20 yards on average. In fact, most of the tee boxes were moved up a fairly good amount as compared to the yardage state on the scorecard. The course was in good condition overall, but some of the sand bunkers I used to fear had been converted to waste bunkers, yet remained a little more sandy than grassy. The greens rolled fast and true, and most of the fairways were very green, if not quite plush. This last winter has been harsh, and the 8 years since I last shot the course have been part of the harshest drought in some time. Compared to many other courses I have played, Sugar Tree has gone out of their way to maintain good fairways and nice greens. I'd like to see the holes along the Brazos have the pseudo waste bunkers either fully converted, or set back to full fledged sand traps, and I 'd like to see the revamped tee boxes, water fall, and water wheel. Otherwise, conditions bordered on absolute excellence.
Excellent course
This course is outstanding and I would recommend it to anybody that plays golf. The people are friendly in the clubhouse and they really try to take care of you. I've played at surgartree many times and the conditions are always great. At the end of your day when you get to the 18th your experience is caped off when you walk up a waterfall to get to the tee box.
Outstanding golf course for this area
This was the first time I had the opportunity to play this outstanding course. The greens were alwsome, the course beautiful and an experience to play. The fairways and layout was an outstanding play. I play about 2-3 times a week and I will drive the 50 miles again to play this course. Do not miss out on an outstanding golf day and play.
Sugar tree
Great course to play, difficult yet fun. Very well maintained.
Great course
Great course play it all the time. Neat views deer all over.
Another fine outing at SugarTree
I play this course as often as I can get out there. The staff is always friendly and the course has never been in bad shape any time I've ever been out there. When my dad and I went this time, some of the other golfers out there were a little less than courteous but that is not the fault of the course. It was a Sunday in the upper 60's in January with no football on so we expected it to be busy and it was. The bacon cheeseburger at the turn was good as always. I think they give too many chips, but thats a personal opinion, because I never can eat all of them.
Nice course but run poorly
This place is nice, but don't expect any amenities. This last time we went out we had to wait 30 minutes past out tee time to get a cart. Also, in 36 holes we have see the cart girl once which would be fine, but all the water jugs we empty on the course.
