Beautiful Course
This was my first round at the Lakes course. Staff was very friendly and the starter was great. He got me paired up with another single and actually got us out ahead of my tee time. Course conditions were in great shape although the rough could be cut down a little more to improve pace of play by reducing time players have to search for balls barely off the fairway. Greens roll true, but more people need to repair their pitch marks. If you’ve never played here before, you may want to get a rundown of the course layout before you start. It’s confusing to find hole #2, as you have to cut across two other tee boxes to get there. Luckily, I was paired with a course local who was amazing in showing me the lines throughout the day. I’ll definitely play this track again.
Maintenance missing
I know about the aeration of the greens and fairways, this is not a complaint about that. It was the rough and simple “just off the green” condition. It was the worst I have ever seen…ever. Played here for 25 years when it was only 18 holes, and it was never this bad. The rough just off the fairways were 3.5 - 5 inches and some near the greens where 6 inches in places (I measured) …as if they had NEVER been cut all year. If this is from a lack of crew I get it…you have to stay on top of the main course first, but if this is from a lack of proper duty of task assignments…I hope this gets to the HGK soon.
Aereated but a great round
Very playable and i walked although next time id ride. Greens slow due to aeration but this was announced. A very good course and an appropriate challenge. Loved it ill come back once the greens and fairways heal. Definitely worth the money
Fair except the geens
The greens are in horrible condition. Lots it due to people not repairing their ball marks. Simple etiquette.
First time playing the course. It offers different shots off the tee on many holes. Some holes there is some leniency left and right and others require quite a bit of accuracy off the tee. Overall the course is in great shape, however the greens were rather slow. Also, bring plenty of balls because you may lose a few in the rough, as sometimes it is very hard to find no matter how close you are to the fairway. A big plus as someone new to the course was the scorecard has the layout map plus a short paragraph on how to best play each hole (strategy for short or longer players) and also where hazards are if you can’t see them). Would recommend and definitely be coming back.
