OOPS...
Golfnow should disassociate itself with Pebble Brook simply because the poor greens they have had all year believe it or not are continually getting worse. The bad conditions really make it difficult for them to draw any kind of regular clientele. And then you have to deal with their Marshals who act like it is part of their job to be your gallery. Not a pleasant round and most likely won't go back for a very, very long time...
Nice course
The.managment is always very nice here. Course layout is good and some holes are challenging. However the greens a a few.of the hole are in rough shape with large bear spots and stray grass popping up here and there. Made putting on those holes very difficult. Over all this is a good course that I have played more than a dozen times.
lovely course
The only drawback to this course being perfect are a few greens. The fairways are generous on most holes and on some you must place your ball carefully. A misplaced ball can bite you here. Staff are always welcoming and friendly and the course is in good shape with the exception of about 3 greens that they have lost. If they get those back it will be super.
Everything great, but the greens.
And that's a big "but". This has been one of my favorite courses, but as other reviewers have said, the greens are very bad. There appear to be some that have come back alright, but probably 50% of them could be called "awful" - and a few of those were basically unplayable. There looked to be tire marks in sand around some of the holes. I called it a 2 putt and moved on.
It's kind of a shame, because the layout here is so much fun and the hole variety is spectacular. Great drives between holes, great elevation changes, beautiful scenery. The people are always very nice as well. I played full price here at 40.00 - but I'd wait to see reviews that the conditions had improved before coming back. Maybe at hotdeal price.
Great course
Beyond the beauty of the actual holes, is the travel between them. No two holes are the same. The layout is wonderful and varied. There are 3 or 4 greens that are really bad, but, those aside, just take a reasonable score on those and move on. I really enjoyed this course. Perfectionists will probably not appreciate it.
Most greens were in good shape. Couple are real thin or have weeds. Fairways needed to be cut. Fun round and course is in better shape than last time I played.
A fun course to play
Played from Senior tee's and course was great. Not overly long but enough of a challenge to keep you on y0ur toe'.s. Good shots are rewarded while bad shots will make you pay the price. Scenery is absolutely beautiful and staff as friendly as you will find anywhere. All in all, a very enjoyable round of golf.
fast greens
first time I played in a couple of years the greens was in good shape a couple had a little burn spot on the edges and a couple started getting some crabgrass on them but the putted good and was quick some of the tee boxes was in bad shape but if you tee it up that don't matter they need to get some grass on the short par 3 and need some more sand in the traps but the course was mowed good rough was cut where you could find your ball had an enjoyable round will be back again
Poor Greens
Greens in bad shape grass on them thin and sandy also very dry. Some of the tee boxes hardly any grass. And dry Bunkers were dirt no sand in them
Pebblebrook experience
First time to play this course and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Course was in excellent shape with only a couple of greens having slight flaws but the most pleasant part of the game was the scenery. The course is beautiful and fun to play;l
Goat Ranch
First there isn't a single water cooler on the course, 75% of tee boxes are hard dirt with out grass and the course layout makes it completely unwalkable. Won't make that trip again unless absolute last resort.
Must play here
Love playing here. Really good layout. You will hit several different kinds of shots.Such a pleasure to drive thru the canopied tree lined cart path. The greens are now in excellant shape. My only ding would be a few of the tee boxes. But they are working on correcting that. Golf now app was only $17 with a cart. Crazy bargain. Play here at least once. You'll come back for sure
PB June 18
Really enjoy this course's layout and variety of challenging holes.
After a nearly complete die-off of their greens last year, all but 4 are well recovered and are rolling quick and true. Over half of the tee boxes are in need of major repair/reseeding and almost all would benefit from aeration. A good value for the money.
Course is in good shape. Staff is always friendly. I enjoy my round.
Rough winter
Course layout is wonderful. Horrible winter and flooding has damaged course but you can see efforts to get Course back for spring.
I just wished I would have been told of conditions prior to start
Not happy
The guy that cleaned and put carts away told us to stop playing after our 18th hole. We went to play another and he tried to stop us. It was 3:00. Doesn’t get dark here in TN till 7:00. He said it’s gonna get dark and he said he was cold and all these excuses so I went to clubhouse and told them the situation and they acted like they didn’t want us to play but they did. We were the last two on the course. Thought they were in business to make money
Greens
I’ve visited family in Greenbrier and played this course many times. The greens were in as bad of shape as possible . Almost unplayable, if there were not weeds you were trying to putt over, then you were trying to putt thru sand and ruts. I love the layout, but they need to redo almost every putting surface .
