Golfer Reviews
How did I not know about this course?
I just found out about this course a couple weeks before I played it. We enjoyed it very much. The layout is fun and challenging even though it's only about 6,400 yds from the tips. There are some blind shots and some par 3's with big drops.
The fairways and greens were in very good shape with the exception of a couple of greens with spots that have some issues getting sunlight. The tee boxes were also in good shape with the exception of a couple with sunlight issues.
My only issue was a par 3 on the front nine that was a 190 yd blind shot due to short trees and brush beside a creek. I thought that was a bit odd and don't recall ever seeing that before. I think it's only a blind shot off the back tee.
I highly recommend the course and look forward to playing it again.
PEBBLE BROOK
I enjoyed the course. Rain on and off most of the round. I would like to play it again when it was dry. Greens were in good shape but some ball marks not being repaired, of course this is not any fault of the management. Nice layout and I would recommend this course.
nice course
course was in very nice shape, greens were very well maintained. pace of play was good. Excellent course for the price.
Great Time
Unique and in great shape. Not crowded with a friendly stall. Carts are a must, there's some distance between greens and tee boxes. Lots of elevations, water, trees and not many houses near the fairways. Had a great time.
Pleased!
My son and I played here on Memorial Day, booked tee time on Golf now app.
Looked a lil weird to me, different than the courses I've been playing!
Was easy at first, wide open with hazards then got a lil tricky to me, being someone who shoots 102-108 on average. Pushing myself to get better every time I play!
The back 9 holes were way cooler than the front nine, bluffs, hills, water and the par 3 that is almost over the cliff and down!
As bad as I thought I played, I broke 100 shooting a 96! Happy with that since I've only started this year!
I will be back!
Great course
Course has a neat layout with a couple of par 3s that have huge elevation changes and several blind tee shots. Challenging enough and very fun. I will be back
Pleasantly surprised after suspect reviews!!
I live in the area and have played every course in North Nashville. My friend and I have talked about playing Pebble Brook for awhile, but never have because we both always heard mixed reviews.
We decided to play and we were blown away. Here's why:
1. The course is in fantastic shape. I've read reviews talking about greens and fairways being terrible, but that's far from the truth right now. There are several tee boxes that need work, but that's most places in my opinion.
2. Layout. The course is fun to play and you get a dose of it on the first hole. We found ourselves talking about how hole after hole gives you options on how you want to play it and it's unique in what it offers in elevation change, doglegs, etc.
3. Staff. For the first time ever I had a flat tire on a golf cart. The ranger was out there immediately after we called the clubhouse with a new cart and was eager to talk golf. Same for the staff inside at the snack bar. We discussed course conditions as I mentioned how reviews weren't pleasant and they were open about past issues and the work they have put in.
4. I'm a mid handicap golfer and can play from an 82 to a 95. I shot an 84 on this trip. Two things stood out to me: The course plays short and the greens are fast.
If you play Long Hollow, Country Hills, or anywhere else North of Nashville I would recommend the drive up to see it for yourself.
I am not affiliated with anyone at this course, just thought it deserved an updated review worth reading.
The good and the not so good
I really like the layout of this course. The fairways were in good condition, despite the grass still being dormant for the winter. For a $12 'Hot Deal', it was a great deal and about the right price. I flew through the front 9 in about 1:15, then started running into other groups. By the time I got to 14, it was 30 mins between shots. The course ranger apologized when he realized I quit after 14, but seemed to make no effort to move folks along.
The tee boxes and greens need EXTENSIVE work as do the deteriorating cart paths. No drinking water on the course. Drinking fountain 'Out of Order' in the clubhouse.
I hadn't played this course in years so I don't know if it was worse and is coming back or if it is continuing to decline. Hopefully it is the former because this is a very interesting and beautiful course!
hilly
nice course. was hilly, not very much water to contend with. played in Feb, but sunny warm day. had 4 to 6 temp. greens but ok. nice views and clean.
Great layout
Love to play this course, they are working on the greens now but in a couple of weeks the course will be great fairways are outstanding, love the course
OK value for the money
The course had a unique layout a lot of blind holes. The greens were torched from the summer had to play 18 temporaries the fairways were overgrown. There was no mention of this when making a reservation or I would've changed to a different golf course
There was no mention of this when making a reservation or I would've changed to a different golf course. I understand this was unique this year would like to play it under different conditions
Gone greens
Well, this is my second attempt to post a review of my round and this course from last Saturday. Perhaps my first one was a bit too honest, so I'll keep this one simple. (Mysteriously, my post from last week just got ignored and/or disregarded.)
The greens are GONE (dirt only) and they don't bother to mention this fact until you get to the course.
Please don't waste you time and money like we did.
Don't play until the greens are replaced
The greens are solid dirt. There is no grass (except for a spare few weeds) on probably 16 of the 18 greens. Impossible to putt reasonably when your line is blocked by a bunch of crab grass. Also putts and approach shots could not hold on a hill and consistently rolled down to valleys because of the lack of grass. If I were the course management, I would be embarrassed to allow people to play this course with the greens in this condition. When I discussed briefly with someone in the clubhouse, it sounded as though it's just a result of the extreme heat, but no other courses around have greens in this condition, so I wonder why more hasn't been done to make this situation better. The rest of the course was in great shape, especially considering the amount of recent rain.
I enjoyed the layout except for a few silly holes. One hole can play as both a par 4 and a par 3. We played it as a par three and it's a ridiculous 50 foot drop off from the tee box on a 150 yard shot. I have no idea how you'd play it as a par 4 given that there is essentially no fairway. There's also another par 3 (I believe it's #16) with a silly elevation change. You can't even see the green from the blue/white tee box.
Overall, I will not be back to this course. I can find Hot Deals for other courses in the area that are WAY nicer for comparable prices.
Greens are gone for the year
This is a wonderful layout. The staff is great. Problem is that the greens are shot and may have to be rebuilt. It's a shame to see on an otherwise great course.
