An Unfortunate Experience
A group of friends and I found this course on Golf Now and it was wide open on a Sunday morning. I figured that this was due to the heat but I soon found out that this is due to terrible playing conditions. Maybe two of the eighteen greens were in an acceptable condition. I can work with terrible green conditions but at forty two bucks a person you would expect the greens to not be completely burnt up with crab grass growing all throughout them. I made this account just to review this course. Trust me when I say AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
August 2017 - Greens are burned
Let me start with the Pros: The staff inside the clubhouse was very accommodating and helpful. The course is nestled in the hills and is very beautiful. I loved the course layout. It was not overly difficult to play and not an abnormal amount of hazards. The pace of play was great. We had a good time playing. Now for the cons: I've not seen greens in this bad of shape in a long time. There were literally large patches of dirt on some of the greens. You have to try and putt over clumps of crabgrass on a lot of the greens. I'm not sure what happened, but it appears they let the greens get burnt up in July, which is a shame. It appears they may be having some financial struggles. I would not play this course in the late summer. If you are a serious golfer, then these greens will really make you angry. There was a group of 9 golfers in front of us that asked for a refund and left because the greens were so bad. They had every right to do so. Next, the marshalls are jerks. Plain and simple. On the last hole I parked my car about 7 feet off the cart path - apparently I missed the sign about keeping the carts on the path - one of the marshals yelled at us like I was a seven year old. I'm 41. I won't play here again and I will ensure my friends don't either. the course is gorgeous, so I wish the experience would've been different.
The greens are consistently awful here.
I don't know who they have maintaining the greens here but he needs to be fired. The greens got burnt up last summer making the course unplayable for almost a year and they are on their way again this summer as If they didn't learn anything from last year. It is incredibly frustrating considering this would be one of the best deals in TN. Fairways are nice. And staff is friendly. Greens are just unputtable on 10/18 holes
Course review
We enjoy this course very much. Greens were not the greatest, but that was to be expected.
first time since last yr
hadn't played since last year when course had lost greens and fairways, but heard lots golfers say course had improved,so got a tee time and went to see improvements,,,greens were nice and fairways were in great shape,,some greens still bare,,but that's due to not enough sunlit in areas with lots trees,,,i enjoyed my round,,and would recommend this challenging course layout. greatly improved since last year
Course was in great shape they had New greens because they had lost their greens. Fairways were nice and staff is always friendly. The food is great and club house was well organized and clean. I will play there again.
How did I not know about this course?
I just found out about this course a couple weeks before I played it. We enjoyed it very much. The layout is fun and challenging even though it's only about 6,400 yds from the tips. There are some blind shots and some par 3's with big drops.
The fairways and greens were in very good shape with the exception of a couple of greens with spots that have some issues getting sunlight. The tee boxes were also in good shape with the exception of a couple with sunlight issues.
My only issue was a par 3 on the front nine that was a 190 yd blind shot due to short trees and brush beside a creek. I thought that was a bit odd and don't recall ever seeing that before. I think it's only a blind shot off the back tee.
I highly recommend the course and look forward to playing it again.
PEBBLE BROOK
I enjoyed the course. Rain on and off most of the round. I would like to play it again when it was dry. Greens were in good shape but some ball marks not being repaired, of course this is not any fault of the management. Nice layout and I would recommend this course.
nice course
course was in very nice shape, greens were very well maintained. pace of play was good. Excellent course for the price.
Great Time
Unique and in great shape. Not crowded with a friendly stall. Carts are a must, there's some distance between greens and tee boxes. Lots of elevations, water, trees and not many houses near the fairways. Had a great time.
Love this course
The course is in great shape. I love the elevations and beautiful ride between holes through the woods.
Pleased!
My son and I played here on Memorial Day, booked tee time on Golf now app.
Looked a lil weird to me, different than the courses I've been playing!
Was easy at first, wide open with hazards then got a lil tricky to me, being someone who shoots 102-108 on average. Pushing myself to get better every time I play!
The back 9 holes were way cooler than the front nine, bluffs, hills, water and the par 3 that is almost over the cliff and down!
As bad as I thought I played, I broke 100 shooting a 96! Happy with that since I've only started this year!
I will be back!
Great course
Course has a neat layout with a couple of par 3s that have huge elevation changes and several blind tee shots. Challenging enough and very fun. I will be back
Pleasantly surprised after suspect reviews!!
I live in the area and have played every course in North Nashville. My friend and I have talked about playing Pebble Brook for awhile, but never have because we both always heard mixed reviews.
We decided to play and we were blown away. Here's why:
1. The course is in fantastic shape. I've read reviews talking about greens and fairways being terrible, but that's far from the truth right now. There are several tee boxes that need work, but that's most places in my opinion.
2. Layout. The course is fun to play and you get a dose of it on the first hole. We found ourselves talking about how hole after hole gives you options on how you want to play it and it's unique in what it offers in elevation change, doglegs, etc.
3. Staff. For the first time ever I had a flat tire on a golf cart. The ranger was out there immediately after we called the clubhouse with a new cart and was eager to talk golf. Same for the staff inside at the snack bar. We discussed course conditions as I mentioned how reviews weren't pleasant and they were open about past issues and the work they have put in.
4. I'm a mid handicap golfer and can play from an 82 to a 95. I shot an 84 on this trip. Two things stood out to me: The course plays short and the greens are fast.
If you play Long Hollow, Country Hills, or anywhere else North of Nashville I would recommend the drive up to see it for yourself.
I am not affiliated with anyone at this course, just thought it deserved an updated review worth reading.
