Lots of fun in the sun!
The proshop and outside staff were
"spot on". Starter was on top of his game as were the marshals. The restuarant and bar staff were lame, but the beer cart girl was great. The course was in good shape, the greens rolled true though not as fast as I expected. Pace of play was exactly four hours. I enjoyed the round and will definitely try this one again.
Very enjoyable
The course was in great condition. The greens were a bit slow but there had been very heavy rain the night before. Views were great. Staff very welcoming. A great experience. Will definitely return
Good golf course to play
Golf course (fairways and greens) was/were in very good condition. Course layout was interesting. Pro shop and restaurant/bar was outstanding. My only suggestion would be that a couple of golf carts had seen there better days and probably should be retired with new ones put into service. I/We enjoyed our day of golfing here.
Enjoyable round
Great staff, excellent pace of play, nice facilities, but mediocre course
overpriced
Paid $108, have played better courses in peak season for half this price. Greens were ok, tee boxes and fairways were usable, sand in bunkers was way too deep and cheap sand. Most bunkers had not been maintained and were very crusty on top. Course layout will bore you to sleep. A couple quirky holes here and there but not enough to make us return. Staff was friendly enough and dining/bar area were outstanding. But the course....not so much.
Good Value, Fun Course
Nice course and reasonably price. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Greens were a little slower than used to but ran true and were consistent.
I'd recommend as a play to friends.
We have a winner!!
Terrific staff. Course is challenging but doesn't beat you up. I did play with 3 regulars and they gave me some tips on where to play away from. There are a couple of long stretches from the green to the next tee, but one regular did walk it. The bar/restaurant is great. I plan to play this course again when I return to AZ.
Great Course
Great course for the price, excellent condition, will for sure return for additional rounds
desert course
The rough is very desert. Can recover but hard to hit out of the rough without damage to your club. Beautiful course in great condition. Interesting layout.
use golf now for a deal
Enjoy this course and it's beauty for a deal. I wouldn't spend more than we did $93/person.
One can score well if your putting and chipping are on. THe greens are very challenging.
Enjoyed it very much
What a course
This a course everyone should check the views were fantastic from all over the course. It has all a person wants for any type of golfer you might be. The fairways have a lot of hills and sand, the greens are rather large allowing for a variety of pin placements. We will play there again.
Fun, well managed, updated technology
Well thought out course that proved challenging & fun. Staff, marshaling, & wait staff top 90% very well done... Some construction, but not a huge difficulty. GPS in cart helped with playing here for the first time.
Not an overly long course but it is in great condition.
We played the Thursday of the Waste Management Open which is evidently one of the busiest times. There was also an hour and a half frost delay (evidently also not uncommon the week of the open). All that being said, once we got started, the pace of play was great. We played in 4 hours which it seems is fast for most public courses in the valley.
The staff both in the club house as well as on course we're very friendly and helpful. There was a regular appearance of the course Marshall which helped to maintain the pace.
I would definitely recommend this course
Beautiful golf course
I come to Arizona at least once a year to visit family ,and when I do I bring my clubs and play at least 4 to 5 times . I was playing another course in the valley when the guys in my group suggested I play McDowell and also tonto verde . Well I did them both back to back days and would say without a doubt that McDowell is by far the nicest course with just a great layout . No stupid holes or bad setup .just a great job of making this course playable for everyone . I will definitely play here again and would suggest it to everyone. You can definitely tell that when it was taken over and upgraded that it was properly.
Awesome!
Course was in great shape, excellent design, traditional desert golf. Clubhouse is beautiful, fish tacos were fantastic, cant wait to return and play again. Course is located near town but when on the course it feels like you are in the middle of the desert, only 1-2 holes with homes. Even saw a roadrunner on the 10th tee box. Teed off at 12;18 and easily completed 18 and Sunday is happy hour all day at the 19th hole! I researched all the local courses before coming down, sooooo glad I book here!
Very enjoyable course, moderately forgiving.
Really enjoyed the variety of the holes. Very good practice area with best driving range I've seen in town.
Good condition
Course was in good condition after several days of rain. Fairways were a little soft, but playable. Greens were rolling very true and a bit faster than expected. This is the old Sanctuary course with reversed nines and a new name.
Great course
Played the day after Christmas, had plenty of tee times available and got us right out. We were paired with a third and only had to let one single player go through us early on. The course was in great shape and was relatively busy, but had no delays. Food was excellent after the round and they had a drink cart that made plenty of rounds on the course.
good layout
bring your own gps as yargdage is scarce on the course. Some interesting holes and fun to play off the back tees.
