Loved it

Loved this course, very pleasantly surprised. The club house staff was terrific, facilities are terrific and the layout was great. I never even noticed the power lines that some of these complainers are whining about. Yes, they are working on the bunkers (which is actually a positive, not a negative) and the greens are still healing from being punched in June, but this is summer in the desert, that's how every course is in the desert this time of year. I will absolutely play here again.

Getting better

Greens are recovering nicely from aeration so will be hoping for faster greens soon. Finally making repairs to rocky sand traps and is in overall good condition

Fun layout and very friendly clubhouse staff

I got a super mid-day rate as a single. Considering the 107 degree heat, I understand why the others didn't show. I played through a foursome and 2 threesomes and didn't run into anyone until 17. My round took 2:10. Fantastic! The staff at the bar couldn't be nicer. Great food and drink selection.

Bad service ever

I am a weekend golf player. I have play golf since 2004.
my handcap is 13. This is my first review in my life.
I visited this course a several times, but now most of all bunker is under the construction. It's fine. But the guy in golf shop did not mention about it. The worst thing is staff 's behavior in pro shop, not field agent who bring a cart or help to carry golf bags.
DO NOT PLAY THIS GOLF COUSE. WITH THE SAME PRICE, GO TO OTHER GOLF GREAT COURSE.

Green

Course was green with no dry patches. Course offers 4 tee boxes to challenge all golfers. Desert layout provided some challenges.

Work in progress

The greens were coming out of aeration and there were many sand traps under construction which made for the lower condition rating which should improve over time. We were the 4th group off following 3-threesomes. The middle threesome were slow causing a 4.15 minute round. It did not seem like a pace improvement was suggested to the laggards which would impact the groups behind us. The cloud cover and lower temperatires (95 degrees) were a nice relief and the company was good. Overall, a good experience with some improvements suggested to help the club along.

Scottsdale summer golf

I played McDowell Mountain around 1130. The course was basically deserted with only a few singles and a couple of twosomes out. Rate was $26 off GN while the course website was advertising $40.
The driving range has a large movable cover and it was full with young kids getting lessons. The "grass" outside of the cover was thin but I was still able to hit all the shots I wanted.
The greens had been aerated fairly recently and still showed. They didn't putt horribly but weren't completely smooth. The bumps and sand affected a few putts.
Tee boxes were ok with a few not level and/or bumpy. The markers were placed poorly because the course does have large tee boxes. Some of the elevated tee boxes were hard to get a tee in.
The fairways were in awesome shape save for the first tee. The landing area was soggy wet and my tee shot basically plugged and got zero roll. Bad golfing luck but didn't make a good start to the round. Some of the areas around the greens were also soggy wet but overall the course was in excellent condition.
The course is challenging but fair. Tee shots way off line will find desert but the course isn't overly penal. The greenskeeper must have been in a bad mood because many of the pin positions were in difficult spots.
I also like how the course gives multiple tee options. Many times the tips are too long but with MM they provide a combo tee using part of the tips and some of the next tee up.
The staff at MM seem to keep the course up in the summertime after playing it a couple of times last summer and this summer. Crews were working on a large number of bunkers and areas around the greens while I was playing. I thought a couple of the guys had a death wish and didn't want to move as I was waiting to hit. The course seems to be mostly empty during the week and is a good place to get a round in at a good pace.

Good Afternoon

Very nice course. Fairways in great shape. Greens recently aerated but growing back in with reasonable putting. Longish par 3s for my game (200+ from white tees).

nice for ladies

This is one of my wife's favorite courses because the forward tee's are more realistic than most. Lots of elevation changes to add a little more challenge. Good breakfast. Range balls are a bit pricy.

Greens need work

I was surprised how brown the greens were. Greens still run fast, which is great, but quite a few ball marks not repaired.

Nice facility, average people

The course and the practice area were very nice but the overall impression was tainted by a rude marshal.

On the first tee we were told that we were late and need to hurry up and hit. (The staff did not come and get us off the range they told us they would.)

2 of our 3 players hit poor tee shots off the first and again we were told by the marshal that we had better get going in order to keep up or we would be moved into position.

We played the round in 3:37 and then the marshal told us how great we did. Too bad he was a jerk

Great track in AZ

golfed with a friend from Pittsburgh. Got paired up with another twosome on hole number 9. Finished 4:20h for the round. Course was in excellent condition. Greens were very nice. If I had to guess, I'd say they were rolling at about a "10" on the stemp. (they were decently paced and rolled true).

Bunkers were so/so. Some of the green-side bunkers were not exactly "fluffy". Same goes for the fairway bunkers, but I prefer a not-so fluffy fairway shot so that worked for my game. However, I certainly wouldn't consider them as horrible either. Hence the so/so response.

Facility was awesome! Looks like they put a lot of work into it recently. Cool firepit and open aired facility. Definitely pretty cool

Note: no free range balls. Smallest bucket was 30 balls for $5. I didn't want to hit 30 balls before I started, but that's a minor issue in the grand scheme of the day.

Bad pace of play

Sign on cart touted four hour round. It took five hours and marshall didn't care and was quite rude. Complained to cart dude at end and he said no one likes that guy. So we wondered why he was kept on. Totally irritating

First time at the course. Paired with some nice folks. Lucky. .no wind perfect for golf. No GPS hard to find out yardage, some of the holes needed local knowledge. Green were thin but putted ok. Good track would play again but lots of other golf in the area.
