#5 approach shot. Cool shot with the mountain in the background. Photo submitted by ryantjeerdsma on 09/24/2013
Gone seriously downhill.
I love the layout of this course, and I understand it's the end of a very hot August, but the conditions were just awful.
All the beautiful desert and grasses were now just dirt. The fairways were riddled with weeds and crabgrass and the greens were so slow and bumpy, you had no idea where your ball would end up. And I've never seen tee boxes as bad as these were.
This used to be a fabulous place to take visitors, and one I would go to myself a couple of times a month. Now, I doubt I'd go back. Not to mention it was almost $80 to play even though it was 100+ degrees.
Also no rangers, and the cart girl went home by noon, so only access to water was few and far between coolers. Not even a free bottle in your cart.
Range balls
Always in good shape. Entire course is littered with range balls. Pick up the range balls on every hole. ???

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback of McDowell Mountain Golf Club. We are excited to hear that you enjoyed your experience and will focus on the range ball recovery. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!
Great layout, fantastic views,poor conditions.
I knew the greens were punched 10 days ago. I wasn’t expecting most of the fairways to be so patchy combine the two $50 is too much. Staff very friendly. I wish I had taken some pics of the fairways.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us positive comments on the staff interactions. We appreciate your understanding regarding the greens after aeration. We are constantly working to improve the playing conditions during these tough times. We hope that you next visit will be an overall better experience.
A round in the morning of a hot and sunny day in scottsdale
Greens were bumpy but playable returning from aeration.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We appreciate your understanding regarding the bumpy greens after aeration. We are constantly working to improve the playing conditions and hope to see you again soon for an even better experience.
Good Course with Good Value
McDowell is a good moderate difficulty course with good value. Worth playing if in Scottsdale area. Only drawback is no GPS in carts which is a plus especially for first time players. Saying this, not to many blind shots to navigate but still nice to know distances to hazards etc.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback of McDowell Mountain Golf Club. We are excited to hear that you enjoyed your experience and will take your feedback into consideration with our new cart fleet. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!
Avoid this place
I will say one good thing about this place. The pace of play was outstanding, but it’s only because no one was on this course. The guys working there are super friendly so that’s a positive, but it only goes downhill from there. The bev cart was in by noon, the halfway cart was closed by 2, that doesn’t really matter to me just stating a fact. The greens were atrocious, there is more dirt than grass here in the fairways. On holes 9 and 18 it’s thought to find you ball even if it’s in the fairway as they are both littered with range balls. The range itself was okay at least I was able to hit off of grass. For $70 I would have had a more enjoyable experience at top golf with opposite handed clubs.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We appreciate the positive feedback on the staff interactions as we are going through the tough transition months with the course. Hidden gem
Hidden Gem in the McDowell Preserve. Challenging track in good condition considering the weather. Highly recommend playing now with very reasonable prices

Wait for TPC time
Garbage conditions for that $. If you go past designated areas to lay up, Youll most likely be around a burnt out/no grass/or straight mud lie. Your forced to layup into designated areas minus the par5’ for better conditions.

Pass
So disappointed in this course. 10th and 18th fairways are filled with range balls. Never seen anything like it. Driving range is all dirt. 85 degrees on a Saturday on Memorial Day Weekend and no beverages after 2:00. We called the pro shop to get them to send someone out and they said “she went home”. Total joke of a course for $111 per person.
