Woodhaven Country Club

About
The ever-busy Leon Howard came to Woodhaven in 1969 to build this par 71 6,565-yard layout. Howard’s traditional design features narrow-tree lined fairways, a significant amount of hills, out-of-bounds lining the fairways, and many challenging doglegs.
The best stretch of golf occurs on the front, with a genius combination of holes in Nos. 6-8. The par 3 No. 6 requires a carry of 200 yards to clear the water, and No. 7 takes plenty of strokes to reach the green 569 yards away. No. 8 is a 426-yard par 4 that plays uphill into a narrow fairway.
On the back, the 190-yard No. 17 features a lake along the left side of the hole–it’s one of only a few holes on the course with water.
Getting there : From I-30 east, take the Oakland Blvd. exit and turn left. When you come to Bridge St., turn right and head over to Country Club Lane. Turn left and the course is just down the road.

Temporary greens
I gave conditions a poor rating because of the temporary greens. They where just a little shorter mowed area in fairway in front of greens. And they where still not mowed very short so putting was horrible. Other than that the coure was great will play again the shapes of holes and the elevation changes where fun like playing a hill country course. But would sure love to see the greens grow in and get chance to play on them. But eather way I am going back and taking some friends because I love hill country courses but dont care for driving to the hill country area to play. 30 minutes compared to 3 hours no brainer
Go play know what you getting into and have fun for what it is.
Extreme Renovations Needed
Decided to try this course out and wish I hadn’t. All the greens are closed down and they have made provision greens at the end of the fairway. Until they fix their greens, this course should not be listed on Golf Now.
Good be GREAT
Rating is solely because of the greens being temporary. You can tell if this place gets great care and conditions it could be incredible. Awesome layout just unfortunate about the greens currently.
Horrible
The whole course was in terrible shape. Temporary greens on nearly every hole. The holes with the original greens were in terrible shape. Brown, bumpy, dirt. Several of us hit into "green bunkers" just piles of sand on the green. The tee box grass was tall. Wouldn't recommend this course to anyone. Very disappointed. Paid $30 each for this course. The course was really worth $3 to play
Excellent Time
First time playing the course it was in really good condition the only part of the course that was not up to par or the sand traps on the back nine other than that it was in Tip-Top shape really didn't mind us and traps cuz I try to stay out of them anyway we'll definitely be coming back again.

Hencalarde,
Did you play Woodhaven in Fort Worth? The Woodhaven in east Fort Worth?
If you did your review is totally bogus! The greens are dead and they are not mowing the rough. The fairways are good but they probably wont be that way much longer. How do I know? I drive by the course every day and I was on the property Sunday 7-21-2019. A course with numerous temporary greens can not be considered "in really good condition".

Hi u8325153. Thank you for taking the time to review the course. We take single star feedback very serious at our course. You are welcome to comment further or reach out to our team in the golf shop. We always appreciate the feedback.
Great layout, terrible conditions
The course had some really nice holes, but the upkeep right now is not good to say the least. We were made aware of some problems they had with the greens, causing them to relocate most of them just in front of the normal green. This would be fine but the grass on the new greens is either too long or not even present. I hit two hard shots on to the new greens that stopped dead like they hit a bunker. The fairways were even a bit long, but not as abysmal as the greens.
Course is in terrible shape!
Where do I begin? Maybe with the beat thing I can say about this place. The pace of play os fantastic because no one is there because it’s a dump. The greens are all non playable with weeds and bare spots everywhere. They have cut temporary greens in front of some of the holes but they are just regular grass that are impossible to putt on. There is thatch from the grass being cut everywhere and this place should be closed because it’s not playable. I use to be a member at this course several years ago and this place use to be really nice but, not anymore. It’s really sad how poor the condition of this course is. Avoid this place even if it’s free as even that would be a complete waste of your time and provide nothing in terms of playing meaningful g olf.
Tee time
Didn't get to play because there was a women's tournament. Golf pro was very apologetic.

We are sorry to learn you did not get to enjoy your round. We invite you to continue this discussion over the phone.
greens almost dead
They were watering greens with a F150 pulling a water trailer driving on the greens LOL. Irrigation breakdown according to pro shop.Bad as the greens looked they putted pretty good. And held pretty good too. Although there were sand traps on some of the greens . The sand traps many unplayable. Fairways good shape. No one on course pace of play good.. I like the course except for a couple of holes. They are going to have to drop prices to get me back. . I want this place to get there . Could be part of the rotation

Buyer Beware! As of 6-23-19 Woodhaven has several temporary greens. Don't know how many but from Randol Mill Road I could see 4.

We appreciate you taking the time to give us your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the greens. We hope you'll give us another shot soon.
Sad to see it in this condition
After playing this past weekend, I regret to say I am really disappointed in the experience at this course. I will provide a list of pros and cons:
Pros: Pace of play was nice and parking was plentiful as we were basically the only ones on the course... I later realized why. The tee boxes and fairways were in pretty good shape and The course layout is unique and challenging. In its heyday this would have been a neat club.
Cons:
Course/club conditions:
Despite the lush conditions abounding the majority of the grounds, the greens and bunkers were in dreadful shape. It is as if ownership just gave up completely on trying to save, salvage, or rebuild any greens. To add insult to injury, We were told before teeing off that 3-4 greens are still struggling but the rest were good. In actuality, there was one green on the entire course that was not a complete embarrassment to the club.
The driving range had one ball caddie available with some very weathered and often damaged yellow range balls. Not a big deal, but definitely not your typical country club feel. The rest of the clubhouse was dark and dated and felt the same sense of a lack of care.
Service/food and beverage:
At the turn, I asked if any food was ready to go, so that we could quickly get back to our round. I was greeted with a blank stare and confusion. I ordered two hot dogs and a bottle of water. After 10 minutes of waiting, I was presented with 1 plain hot dog with a bun that had been split in half and a ramekin of ketchup, no other condiments. Frustrated with the delay I left the club without the rest of my order and went to the tenth tee box where the waitress had chased me down in a cart to present me with the second hot dog - again, plain with a split bun and this Time no ketchup much less other condiments. I was at first impressed by the dedication of the waitress to ensure I received my order, but then once again was disappointed when I bit into the hot dog and realized it was still cold. I never received the water.
Beers were something like $40 per 6 pack, which was a bit high, but a worthwhile expense to get through the round of golf.
I was also told there would be a beverage cart on the course before teeing off, and there was not one that ever arrived.
I am glad I had the opportunity to play here while I could as I get the impression that this will probably be it’s last year open for business.
great layout terrible greens
i’ve played here many times the last 10 years or so but this was the worst the greens have ever been. this has to be one of the most unique golf courses in the dfw area with due to elevation changes, blind shots, and just an overall challenging but fun course. i sure hope they figure out how to get the greens back.

We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry you didn't have a positive experience with us. We will make sure this gets passed to the appropriate teams so we can improve moving forward.
They have given up.
Sad day. Have played the course consistently over the past 15 years. Haven’t played in a year and 1/2 here. Greens do not have a foot of playable grass. Clumps of dead grass, weeds, and dry dirt. Were punched sometime in the past, but not sanded or watered. Doesn’t appear they are watering anything. Paid 90.00 for two and saw 2 other people on the course. Fairways have grass, but ground is hard as a rock. Sad day for what I believe was one of the best tracks in DFW. Course is not playable. We hit off the tee boxes and chipped. Staff appeared embarrassed. Simple honest review. Not sure why anyone would play in current shape.
The price is good for what it is
The greens are horrible. The fairways are fine. I could not complain too much for only paying$50 for two people. it was definitely a lot better than wasting golf balls on a driving range.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Woodhaven Country Club. We hope to see you again in the future.
Zero Greens
I booked the wrong course by accident. Pulled up and saw the greens and was already beat mentally. No grass on greens. They were punched and bare. Fairways were great. But once you got on the greens and tried to putt weeds or holes would kick your ball around. Until they get the greens to roll again I wouldn’t waste your money on this place. It’s run down and poorly taken care of

We're glad we were able to accommodate your reservation after your booking mishap. We would appreciate your patience as our staff works to keep the course up to par. We hope to see you out on the golf course again soon.
Greens
Love this track, but the greens are a sand pit. They just plugged greens and sand everywhere. Just got a new superintendent, so hopefully they can get this coarse back in shape.

We appreciate your patience while we work to keep the course up to par. We hope you'll give us another shot soon.
Needs a lot of work
Nice layout but greens have aeration done to be hem with no sand put in. So u have just holes everywhere. Course also had not been mowed in a long time for a golf course, grass in rough was 8-12 inches. U lose a ball when u are not in fairway, U can not see ball unless u are right over it. Very poor condition, played for $26 but would not pay $5 to play this course guy at desk said they had aerated greens but they were ok but to hit greens and just take a 2 putt !!
VERY DISAPPOINTING

The conditions on this course were so bad they should just start over.
