Meadowbrook Municipal Golf Course

About
Eight years before he built Colonial Country Club, John Bredemus came to Fort Worth to build Meadowbrook Municipal Golf Course. The city bought the facility years later and brought Ralph Plummer in for renovations in 1962, when the creation of dams formed five new lakes and improved the irrigation system. No. 5 should probably be a par 5 for most hackers -- it plays 475 yards with water on the left of the dogleg, trees are on the right, and the approach must carry a creek. Don't worry about a bogey on this one. The 16th is another long par 4 that features an approach over water to the green. The two best birdie opportunities are nos. 7 and 14, both short par 4s that should leave you with only a short iron into the green.

Classico
It'll take time for this gem to get back to shape for the summer. Greens were soft and slowly taking form.
Course looks easy, and always plays tough.
A Classic City Roller of a course.
Enjoyed
The course is in great shape. I walked the course this time and if you want to get in great shape this is your course.
“Great Value” Experience
When I arrived, staff came off as neutral. Would like to see more urgency and customer service. Layout of the pro shop/food stand was lackluster. Only snacks available and not cooked food.
Course was in below average shape. Dirt spots throughout each fairway, tee boxes need work, and the greens are not kept well with weeds sprouting out and looks like camo with multiple shades of the color green. Needs to have separation between the residential buildings and the course itself as property owners can simply walk on the course. There was a dog that ran up and down one of the holes and disrupted the play of the group in front of us (grabbed their balls and ran) The course is reasonably priced for its condition though and I did enjoy playing the holes as the layout does offer some challenging shots. If you’re looking to play a game by yourself to practice, it’s an ok spot. Don’t bring any prospective clients or your boss here; as they might reevaluate your position within the company.
Suspect at best
Okay, I'll start with a disclaimer: this course is scheduled to be closed in September 2023 for a much needed renovation.
That said, Meadowbrook is a true goat track! They barely do anything to maintain the facility (except for the men's bathroom in the so-called "clubhouse " which is very clean). The grounds are generally untidy with debris everywhere. The tee boxes are so bad that they would be better off just putting out some mats to hit from!
Like I said, I know they're planning a renovation but seriously? And to make it worse this facility (like so many others in DFW offering crap conditions) charges regular full price rates! What a joke on me!
I also heard a staff member say that they actually even ran out of hot dogs and buns. Really? Plan ahead much for business? Again, what a joke...on me...and on you if you go.
Condition
Needs a lot of care and water on fairways and tee boxes were very bad.. I hope when it’s been redone in October that it’s looks like it did back in the late 80’s and 90’s!!
Not worth it at all sadly
I had my dad and buddy’s meet me out at this course.
No range, tee boxes were awful, no grass. Rock fairways.
Just not worth it. Tear it down and try again
Cheap course but still not worth it
This course is cheap and worth it if you walk it but they charged us $17 per person for a cart fee not just for 1 cart which makes no sense when 2 people share the cart. The carts tires have little tread so it sounded like we slammed the brakes a lot when we weren’t breaking hard, the seats also have holes from dropped cigarettes. The greens were horrible with no consistency and weird pin placements. The tee boxes were like sand boxes and some had the markers completely off the tee box. So it looked like they have a minimal course upkeep. I will NEVER play here again.
Good course
The course is in good shape. The greens are fast. Our only concern is the hidden greens.
Great value!
This is not a fancy course. It is a muni. But it has one of the best layouts of any muni I've played. Great variety of holes and a quality staff. If you're looking for a quality layout at a good price I would definitely recommend.
Bathrooms Closed
The bathrooms were closed, other than that it was a great day!
