Lakes at Firewheel Golf Park

About
The Lakes Course at Firewheel is a links-style course that is loaded with water, and was a Dick Phelps creation on his return to Garland in 1987. Hole 7 is the most difficult–a long 549-yard par 5 that requires an approach over a pond.
Getting there : From Dallas, take Hwy. 75 north and exit Arapaho. Turn right and when you come to N. Garland Ave., turn left. Drive to W. Blackburn Rd. and turn west. The course is just down the road.

Week end golf
The pace of play is horrendous We wait for 15 min on every holes. We gave up after 5 holes. No martial to monitor ,
Poor pace of play
Busy Friday after Thanksgiving and no sign of a Marshall. A slow twosome ruined the day for many many groups. Tee off time was mid morning so was shocked that there was not a Marshall keeping an eye on pace.
A lot of folks would be irritated at the pass of play but for a public course on a Saturday afternoon you should expect it.
Greens are lost
The greens have huge patches of dead spots. They’ve really let this place go. It used to be one of my favorite courses in DFW, but it’s gone downhill severely.
My go to course
Always a great place to play for the money. Course is always in good shape, and the pace is fairly fast. 18 holes in just over 4 hours. I love this golf course. It’s challenging but yet easy enough if you’re an average golfer. Would definitely play anytime.
Great value
The course is a great value in DFW. However, the greens were having some issues, several bare spots on a few, and almost all of the had a severe weed issue. Fairways and boxes were fine,
Perfect days for rounds
Always friendly staff at pro shop.
Well maintained fairway and little slow rolls on the greens today.
Nice guy joined and played lot of enjoying.
Will see soon.
Great Course
So far I have played both the Old and Lakes. Very fun and each has their challenges. I would love to play in a tournament here
