About
The Lakes Course at Firewheel is a links-style course that is loaded with water, and was a Dick Phelps creation on his return to Garland in 1987. Hole 7 is the most difficult–a long 549-yard par 5 that requires an approach over a pond.
Getting there : From Dallas, take Hwy. 75 north and exit Arapaho. Turn right and when you come to N. Garland Ave., turn left. Drive to W. Blackburn Rd. and turn west. The course is just down the road.

Great Staff
First off, my playing partner lost his range finder on the 5th hole, the Course Marshall was kind enough to drive around and find it. As far as the golf course, the whole layout is great. It took us a little over 3 hour 20 minutes to play, fairways and greens are in fantastic condition. I'd recommend this course to anyone.

Staff can be rude. No Marshalls to help a very busy course. No cart person.
Hot humid but challenging fun
Great layout, must have shot making & always a great play to play. Better than I though with the long summer drought but never any sand in the cart bottles? I always try to leave the course better than I play it but no chance to fix divots, come on Lakes at Firewheel staff....
Great value with holes to test every aspect of your game
I wish they had cart people on the weekend but they didn't have one on the Sunday we played. They have a large indoor clubhouse that could have a nice set up for golf watching after a round but they haven't taken advantage of that yet. Still one of my favorite places to play for the price.
Hole#17 Par 5
Hole#17, Par 5 fairway is in repairing status, so it was set up like Par 3, 145 yards. It was a kind of embarrassment.
Golf cart problem
Golf cart wasn’t work during we were playing. I asked change cart but they didn’t. We had a very hard time.
Awesome
Great course. Great layout. Greens were in great condition. Overall good pace of play until the back 9, got backed up a little bit. Only negative on back 9 the coolers were all empty and our whole group ended the round feeling like Spongebob when he needed the water!!!!
