Lakes at Firewheel Golf Park
About
The Lakes Course at Firewheel is a links-style course that is loaded with water, and was a Dick Phelps creation on his return to Garland in 1987. Hole 7 is the most difficult–a long 549-yard par 5 that requires an approach over a pond.
Getting there : From Dallas, take Hwy. 75 north and exit Arapaho. Turn right and when you come to N. Garland Ave., turn left. Drive to W. Blackburn Rd. and turn west. The course is just down the road.

Highly recommend
I do not think that staffs are changing pin positions everyday because edges of hole cups were not sharp. Irons only at the driving range. But I highly recommend the lake course- challenging. layout, as well as beautiful. Prepare beat-up balls. and sharp your iron shorts. If you pay $40 on GN, it is greatly worth for money.
Fun outing
Played Lakes course early morning- thank goodness because it was hot. Staff friendly. Was told that greens were punched three days ago- not too bad, a necessary evil and reality. Starter friendly and very helpful. Pace of play was very good and greens were not too bad. Some areas of fairways and roughs overwatered and muddy. Very good round overall- glad finished before heat of day really kicked in. Will definitely return when visiting my daughters again in future.
Great course to play in a hot summer day
I like the fact that there are trees and shades in most of the cart paths. It helped very much play and enjoy a round during a very hot day. Fairways were fair. Greens were Ok. Some fairways were hard and I had to be cautious about the distance the ball rolling.
Challenging but long
Excellent way to utilize your irons and fairway woods…placement is key and there will be a lot of blind looks at the hole from tee box to the approach of you don’t learn to place the ball in a certain area…this is what makes the course very unique in my opinion…was a lot of fun and I played more clubs in my bag than I expected . Most greens are elevated so you must be able to throw darts with your approach. Great way to play a round!
Perfect course on a very hot day
The course has a lot of trees around tee boxes and along the cart paths. Those trees were very helpful during the very hot day. It could’ve been miserable.
Greens rolled well. There were a few holes that were too dry but I won’t complain for the prices I paid.
Hot Round
Pace of play was good until back nine 2 1/2 hours to play (played front nine in 1:20 min.) so overall less than 4 hours.
Fun Course
The course was in okay shape, the greens were punched not too long ago so made putting difficult. The course was dry, which made the fairways and green hard. All the employees were friendly except one person who had a lil attitude but don't we all lol.
Carts
Course is hanging in there. Greens rolled nicely. Their carts are junk- barely work. And clubhouse is dingy
Personal Best On Tough Trsck
I booked a single thru GN on Saturday afternoon and it was amazing. 26 bucks to ride 18 holes on a great course. The staff was friendly and efficient. All the people ive met playing are friendly and the same skill level as me. The course was in pristine condition. They have #10 under construction so you have to play it like a par 3 and I pared it. Shot an 84 on what is always a challenging 18 holes. I've spent a lot of time trying to break 90 out there and it paid off today!
Fun Day Out There
Course was in good condition and the greens were fast.
