About
The Lakes Course at Firewheel is a links-style course that is loaded with water, and was a Dick Phelps creation on his return to Garland in 1987. Hole 7 is the most difficult–a long 549-yard par 5 that requires an approach over a pond.
Getting there : From Dallas, take Hwy. 75 north and exit Arapaho. Turn right and when you come to N. Garland Ave., turn left. Drive to W. Blackburn Rd. and turn west. The course is just down the road.

Greens are in very good shape.
The fairways are concrete, so the ball rolls an extra 50 yards on first and second shots. Someone turned on the sprinklers on hole 5 and made things interesting.
Winter golf
Played on a Thursday afternoon, very windy, chilly but sun popped out 1/3 thru our round. Greens fast, nice, dormant fairways but no sand in our carts? I was raised to improve the course when I play ( like always try to repair 3 ball marks on every green) but how can you fix fairway divots with no sand? They get many rounds played at all their courses but divots all over the place. Played many rounds here, but just my opinion...
Nice Course with Plenty of Challenge
Really enjoyed the course. Plenty of tee boxes to choose from depending on your level of play. Greens were good and most fairways were good with the exception of one or two. Had a frost delay so that really slowed things down a bit and finished right at 5 hours. Only wished there would have been a beverage service on the course. It was 70 degrees by the turn and would have liked to get something to drink since we did not turn at the clubhouse. Overall a good course and friendly staff. I will definitely be back again.
The lakes
Decent course.. pretty player friendly but def a few holes that you need a GPS or someone telling you the layout... would def play again and at 45 bucks hard to beat. Range was horrible tho.. like a bunker..
Beautiful Course
Very fun and challenging course. Greens were in very good shape. I didn't tee off until 1 hour after my actual tee time due to it being so busy. But that gave me plenty of time to warm up. If I had been in a hurry it would've been an inconvenience but I wasn't. Would definitely golf here again.
