Lakes at Firewheel Golf Park
About
The Lakes Course at Firewheel is a links-style course that is loaded with water, and was a Dick Phelps creation on his return to Garland in 1987. Hole 7 is the most difficult–a long 549-yard par 5 that requires an approach over a pond.
Getting there : From Dallas, take Hwy. 75 north and exit Arapaho. Turn right and when you come to N. Garland Ave., turn left. Drive to W. Blackburn Rd. and turn west. The course is just down the road.

Firewheel Lakes
Course was in great shape and it was well worth the $$.
Worth the money
Got on as a single Monday afternoon for $28. Course was in decent shape considering all the rain over the past few days. Tee boxes and fairways were in good shape, but the collars were awful and the greens were the slowest I’ve played this year. Knocked out 18 in 2.5 hours even sitting behind a twosome the entire front 9; pace of play was awesome. Overall, definitely worth the money for a weekday round.
July 4th weekend
Booked a round at 11am on Friday July 3rd. Hot Texas summer day—Pace of play was great. Greens were in great shape—a little slower than expected. Overall great round.
Pace of play
Usually great pace of play but today was bad , groups stacked up on the back nine because of an incredibly slow foursome . Need better marshaling to keep pace .left after 11 holes , did not want to wait
Great conditions on local gem!
This local course has been in great conditions all year long .
Both fairways and greens are is pristine form making the course greatly enjoyable.
Great value
Course was in great shape. Boxes, fairways, greens.. all solid. Greens were slow but given the rain, understandable. Only saw bev cart once, which was disappointing. Overall, great track for the price.
Tough. But fair
Real tough course. You get rewarded for good shots, punished for bad. It’s how it should be. Greens rolled very smooth but a tad slower than the putting green. Legit only complaint. I’d say we adjusted but we putted like garbage all day. Not the greens fault!!!!! Played the blues, very challenging, good cart attendant, decent pace, just under 4 hour round.
great course
Lakes is the most challenging from all of the courses at firewheel..pay was slow but father's day weekend...
Breezy Does It
Just enough breeze today to fight off 95 degrees. The course is in very good condition, even the bunkers that I visited were in good shape. Greens are a little grainy, but smooth. Fairways are excellent. You will enjoy it.
Nice course
I played this course for the first time and I'll definitely be back. The course was in great shape - fairway grass was great, first-cut of rough was very playable, greens rolled true. The course has some really pretty holes as well. Beware however, this is a pretty darn difficult course. Woods and water on nearly every hole and many of the fairways are really narrow. All-in-all a big thumbs up!
First timer
Got a new driver , needed to test out its” sea legs “ . Booked online for fire wheel lakes course and it was not a let down. Amazing pace of play for a packed Sunday ! Great staff and solid greens and fairways. Tough tight long track ... you have to earn it there ! Not disappointed... solid keep up the amazing work. Buck
Driving range needs to change line. Course in good shape.
