About
The Lakes Course at Firewheel is a links-style course that is loaded with water, and was a Dick Phelps creation on his return to Garland in 1987. Hole 7 is the most difficult–a long 549-yard par 5 that requires an approach over a pond.
Getting there : From Dallas, take Hwy. 75 north and exit Arapaho. Turn right and when you come to N. Garland Ave., turn left. Drive to W. Blackburn Rd. and turn west. The course is just down the road.

Lakes @ Firewheel
Fabulous layout. Super friendly staff. Nice cafe style sit down lunch area. Putting, Range and chipping areas were all in phenomenal shape. Steady course of play. All in all, a great course, great staff, great facilities.
A few days after the rain
Tee boxes & fairways were nice. A few greens I recall having dirt at the edges.
#2 is one of the nicer-looking holes on the course. You may have to go over the water on the par 3 3rd & the par 3 11th.
The scorecard is incorrect in that there is a ravine that crosses the fairway on #10. There is a narrow entry to the fairway on #12.
A deep ravine is close to the undulating green on the par 5 13th. After the lake that factors into the tee shot on the right, avoid being on the right side of the fairway/the rough on the right because that makes for an approach to the hole over trees as well as the ravine.
greens in spectacular condition
Been a year since I've played the Lakes, and the greens this week are in just about near perfect condition.
Beautiful and very challenging
This is a very nice course with at least one shot per hole that will challenge you greatly.
Mask required inside clubhouse. Coursevcin good condition.

Very good coverage and green but TOO slow (1-10 ... slow t fast) 4 .... we like about 7
Great Course
The Lakes Course is in great shape. Bring water due to Covid rules.
Missed the mark
Great layout.....that’s about it.
Greens are very inconsistent. One will be fast, the next will be slow as all get out.
Only 1 grounds keeper stopped for us during play. The rest just kept doing what they were doing. This included mowing the fairway in front the green while we were about 90 yards out. After that, he went and started mowing tee boxes on the next hole. That was obviously an extreme but only 1 guy stopped while we were playing through the hole he was working on.
