Lakes at Firewheel Golf Park
About
The Lakes Course at Firewheel is a links-style course that is loaded with water, and was a Dick Phelps creation on his return to Garland in 1987. Hole 7 is the most difficult–a long 549-yard par 5 that requires an approach over a pond.
Getting there : From Dallas, take Hwy. 75 north and exit Arapaho. Turn right and when you come to N. Garland Ave., turn left. Drive to W. Blackburn Rd. and turn west. The course is just down the road.

Slow on weekend
If you want to play a quick weekend round, this is not the place to be , however The course is fun good condition and friendly staff
Perfect course
This course plays my style of play Back nine is great I love it I’ll be back
Nice Course
The course was in great condition but pace of play was slow. Would like to see course Marshall monitoring pace of play.. But over all it was a good day.
Great Shape
The Lakes Course at Firewheel was in great shape despite all of the rain that it has gotten over the past few weeks. Greens were in good shape and the fairways were very good as well. I play here about once every two or three months, and I am rarely disappointed. The pace of play today was a bit slower than I like because we were a threesome riding and there was a walking single between us and another riding threesome. Other than that, it was a great day to play golf.
Firewheel Lakes
Great course. Most of the greens were smooth. The fairways were in great shape. The bunker sand was in pretty bad shape probably because of so much rain. Many of the water stations on the back nine had no water and it was rather warm. We saw no cart girl at all. The course itself was very challenging and the course was well marked.
Beautiful Day
First time un the Lake Course, excellent pace and course in good conditions, It was challenging for my level of play, but really enjoyable experience.
One of my favorite courses but still need time to recover from winter and all the rain that drowned it.
The harsh winter with all the rain flooded some holes and the fairways are a bit thin. A couple of holes have inconsistent greens with different types of grass on them. It maybe some crabgrass. Give it a little time over the summer and it’ll be back in shape.
Coming along nicely, good deal!
The Lakes has had a rough winter and beginning of 2019 with heavy rainfall most recently. The bunkers are not in good shape still but the greens and fairways are looking great. I have played here about 5 times this year already and have noticed a change. The better the weather gets the better shape the course will be. Overall it is doing great now minus the bunkers.
Decent value
Played today after a couple of days of rain. Course was in good shape but pace was terrible on the front 9. Still enjoyable though.
Great design, use driver carefully
Hi.
Have played several times, will continue to do so.
Lots of hidden water: be careful with dtiver off tees & line of aim: "great" shots can end up wet!
Mid-march, fairways still dormant. With growth, it is very good.
Grass hasn't started to come back-up. Tee boxes and fairways were like hitting off concrete.
U get what u pay for
Terrible bunkers, thin fairway grass. Worst shape I have ever seen this course before. Sorry, I won't go back. Seem to have lost interest in satisfying us golfers.
Needs a few months to get back to where it was.
I love this course but since all the rain occurred over the past few months the greens and fairways need time to get back where it was. Hopefully by spring the course will be back.
