About

The Lakes Course at Firewheel is a links-style course that is loaded with water, and was a Dick Phelps creation on his return to Garland in 1987. Hole 7 is the most difficult–a long 549-yard par 5 that requires an approach over a pond.

Getting there : From Dallas, take Hwy. 75 north and exit Arapaho. Turn right and when you come to N. Garland Ave., turn left. Drive to W. Blackburn Rd. and turn west. The course is just down the road.

Excellent conditions

We have played the Lakes course previously and was disappointed with the condition of the course, especially the greens. However, when we played this time, the course was in excellent condition. Pace of play is always good (3.5-4 hours) and the staff is efficient and courteous.

Slow play 5 hour 30m round

Tee time took 5 hours and 30 minutes on a Saturday. Waiting 15 minutes to tee off on multiple holes. Don’t play on Saturday.

Amazing Property, Challenging Course

Course conditions were pretty great on the Lakes course. Greens were punched a while back and there was slight signs of it, greens were a bit slow. But overall, I’ve played much worse. Would gladly play this course again and would recommend to any skill level.

Great greens!

The course is in great shape since all the water from the storms. The greens are almost perfect. There is some spot on the course that still needs work but it’s not a big deal.
