Lakes at Firewheel Golf Park
About
The Lakes Course at Firewheel is a links-style course that is loaded with water, and was a Dick Phelps creation on his return to Garland in 1987. Hole 7 is the most difficult–a long 549-yard par 5 that requires an approach over a pond.
Getting there : From Dallas, take Hwy. 75 north and exit Arapaho. Turn right and when you come to N. Garland Ave., turn left. Drive to W. Blackburn Rd. and turn west. The course is just down the road.

Beautiful Day
First time un the Lake Course, excellent pace and course in good conditions, It was challenging for my level of play, but really enjoyable experience.
One of my favorite courses but still need time to recover from winter and all the rain that drowned it.
The harsh winter with all the rain flooded some holes and the fairways are a bit thin. A couple of holes have inconsistent greens with different types of grass on them. It maybe some crabgrass. Give it a little time over the summer and it’ll be back in shape.
Coming along nicely, good deal!
The Lakes has had a rough winter and beginning of 2019 with heavy rainfall most recently. The bunkers are not in good shape still but the greens and fairways are looking great. I have played here about 5 times this year already and have noticed a change. The better the weather gets the better shape the course will be. Overall it is doing great now minus the bunkers.
Decent value
Played today after a couple of days of rain. Course was in good shape but pace was terrible on the front 9. Still enjoyable though.
Great design, use driver carefully
Hi.
Have played several times, will continue to do so.
Lots of hidden water: be careful with dtiver off tees & line of aim: "great" shots can end up wet!
Mid-march, fairways still dormant. With growth, it is very good.
Grass hasn't started to come back-up. Tee boxes and fairways were like hitting off concrete.
U get what u pay for
Terrible bunkers, thin fairway grass. Worst shape I have ever seen this course before. Sorry, I won't go back. Seem to have lost interest in satisfying us golfers.
Needs a few months to get back to where it was.
I love this course but since all the rain occurred over the past few months the greens and fairways need time to get back where it was. Hopefully by spring the course will be back.
Course was not in very good shape
Not sure if they were flooded recently but course was in very poor shape. Have played orher munis in town and for the same price, and they were in a lot better condition
I would not play here again
Great course to play, no beverage cart in sight was up setting.
This course is a great course at an amazing value. The only downside is no beverage cart to purchase beverages thru the entire round. When hosting customers it helps to get drinks during your game.
All in all great spot definitely will be back soon!
Enjoyable Golf
I like The Lakes course, especially when the greens and fairway grasses are so good. Errant shots will cost you a stroke (and a ball), especially on the inward nine.
Great acourse
Really great courae. We left on 10 th hole. Really slow but still my favorite place to play
Firewheel Lakes is Good Course
Played Firewheel Lakes with some buddies. Course is in great shape. Greens were in great shape, but needing a trim. Today they were very slow. GoldNow had a great price of $39/player at 8:20am on a Sunday. Most Dallas courses are $50+ on weekend prime time, especially in summer.
