Lakes at Firewheel Golf Park
About
The Lakes Course at Firewheel is a links-style course that is loaded with water, and was a Dick Phelps creation on his return to Garland in 1987. Hole 7 is the most difficult–a long 549-yard par 5 that requires an approach over a pond.
Getting there : From Dallas, take Hwy. 75 north and exit Arapaho. Turn right and when you come to N. Garland Ave., turn left. Drive to W. Blackburn Rd. and turn west. The course is just down the road.

Extremely avid golfer
I play here often. I hope not too many people see this but it’s a hidden gem. The greens are always smooth and very quick. The fairways are nice and good sand in the traps, not that I was in one or anything. I would definitely recommend and on a week day under 20$ is unbeatable considering we played five in 3 1/2 hours.⛳️
Fire wheel is the best
Fire wheel is the best. always a good value, excellent condition this time.
This course is well maintained with a beautiful layout
Course is very cost friendly, bunkers have good sand, greens are in pretty good shape, some patching but not a lot. Course is fun and challenging
Best Round Ever...
Had a great round of golf today. Course was in good condition. Greens have a lot of angulation and were fairly quick. Played in 3 1/2 hours. We would recommend this course. The course gets better after playing it a few times.
Not worth the money...
This course had dead greens. The pace of play was terrible. Rude people on the course. Plus never saw a cart girl. If you wanna enjoy your game I suggest you play the Old Course it is a lot better.
Nice course but dreadful pace of play
The course itself is nice but I don't think I will go back. We were sandwiched in what seemed like 50 other groups, our tee time was 2:20pm. We had to wait at every hole and every shot. We got stuck behind 4 college bros that literally teed off 4 times each. They would not let us play through, not that it mattered because they had to wait at every hole as well. There were people all over the course. Some even going the wrong way and then jumping on a hole and playing. No Marshall in sight to keep pace of play manageable or directing the idiotic people going the wrong way. It was miserable. I won't be returning for a while, there are other courses around. May try back in the winter time when there are less people playing.
Course was in good shape as usual, the pace of play was good but did seem to slow down on the back 9. Can't seem to ever go wrong with any of the courses at Firewheel.
Great course
Very nice course, people let you go by no hassles from other people, i was playing the mesquite course but took to long plus management stink there .this place very professional
Slow Play and Bumpy Greens
Roll the greens occasionally and Marshall the course. Slow play, groups jumping in, no one polices the place.
Usually play the Bridges side
But I keep forgetting how much fun the Lakes course is. Now granted....you gotta hit some good shots......but when don't you...LOL. Great layout with some risk/rewards. green were in good shape.
The Lakes
Course is very good shape for the amount of play it gets, lots of fun and challenging holes. Greens were in good shape as well. It is worth putting in your rotation if like to play different courses around town and won't break your budget.
Greens are great, layout very difficult
This is a great public course and very inexpensive. The layout is exceptional and if you can't hit it straight, lots of water will take your ball. The greens on this course are the best of the three at Firewheel.
Nice course to play
The course was in very good shape. It's challenging and definitely worth playing. I will play it again for sure.
Value for Money
I have played few rounds at Firewheel Lakes Course. Its fun always! But the pace can be really slow especially if playing on Friday afternoon. The afternoon tee time prices are not much (less than 20$ with the cart) hence lot of people and if you are stuck behind a slow moving foursome, then God bless you!! However, the course is in good condition! Back 9 is little more challenging than the front 9. You will be tempted to drive all the way to the green, but watch out for creeks and lakes!! Overall, I would recommend this course!!!
