Lakes at Firewheel Golf Park
About
The Lakes Course at Firewheel is a links-style course that is loaded with water, and was a Dick Phelps creation on his return to Garland in 1987. Hole 7 is the most difficult–a long 549-yard par 5 that requires an approach over a pond.
Getting there : From Dallas, take Hwy. 75 north and exit Arapaho. Turn right and when you come to N. Garland Ave., turn left. Drive to W. Blackburn Rd. and turn west. The course is just down the road.

Great Layout
The course is beginning to green up from the winter. The greens roll true. The sand traps need attention. The fairways are thin, but that is to expected this time of year. A fun layout!!
Good Golf and Value
The course is just beginning to green up but the lies and putting surfaces were good.
A windy day
The temperature was in the 50s but the sun never came out when I played. Mix in the wind and it was cold. The course is worth playing. The bunkers had soft sand and the greens played fast. It is a challenging course and with the weather conditions I’m ok with the 92 I shot. Nice layout. Nice course. Friendly staff. I only play GolfNow hot deals. So when the next good hot deal comes along. I will play it again.
Good Course but 5-Somes ruin experience
Good course and always good greens. The only issue worthy of complaint is the frequent 5-Some groups that constantly cannot keep up with the group in front. This effectively backs up the pace of play for several groups. Pace of play is crucial. Always great staff there. I just hope to see more enforcement so that groups can play in about 4 hours.
Good cheap round
If you want a good cheap round on the weekend then this the place for you.
Excellent conditioned greens.. along with perfect weather.. we were able to play in less than four hours.. don’t tell anyone..
Nice course.
Played here several times. Always a good value and challenging layout. Two thumbs up!
SLOW
The course is in good condition but the pace of play was horrible. 5 hours 10 minutes. They are bunching the tee times 7 minutes apart. Last three rounds have taken 5 hours +. I’m not going back until they space the tee times farther apart and get Marshall’s in the course.
Extremely avid golfer
I play here often. I hope not too many people see this but it’s a hidden gem. The greens are always smooth and very quick. The fairways are nice and good sand in the traps, not that I was in one or anything. I would definitely recommend and on a week day under 20$ is unbeatable considering we played five in 3 1/2 hours.⛳️
Fire wheel is the best
Fire wheel is the best. always a good value, excellent condition this time.
This course is well maintained with a beautiful layout
Course is very cost friendly, bunkers have good sand, greens are in pretty good shape, some patching but not a lot. Course is fun and challenging
Best Round Ever...
Had a great round of golf today. Course was in good condition. Greens have a lot of angulation and were fairly quick. Played in 3 1/2 hours. We would recommend this course. The course gets better after playing it a few times.
Not worth the money...
This course had dead greens. The pace of play was terrible. Rude people on the course. Plus never saw a cart girl. If you wanna enjoy your game I suggest you play the Old Course it is a lot better.
Nice course but dreadful pace of play
The course itself is nice but I don't think I will go back. We were sandwiched in what seemed like 50 other groups, our tee time was 2:20pm. We had to wait at every hole and every shot. We got stuck behind 4 college bros that literally teed off 4 times each. They would not let us play through, not that it mattered because they had to wait at every hole as well. There were people all over the course. Some even going the wrong way and then jumping on a hole and playing. No Marshall in sight to keep pace of play manageable or directing the idiotic people going the wrong way. It was miserable. I won't be returning for a while, there are other courses around. May try back in the winter time when there are less people playing.
Course was in good shape as usual, the pace of play was good but did seem to slow down on the back 9. Can't seem to ever go wrong with any of the courses at Firewheel.
