Legacy Hills Golf Club
About
Legacy Hills Golf Club opened in fall 1996 and immediately gained the respect of the central Texas golf community. Designed by Greg Cash and Billy Casper, the course blends in beautifully with the natural terrain, featuring rolling hills, old oak trees, ravines, and numerous elevation changes, both in the fairway and on the greens.
Berry Creek runs through the layout, and is integral to the signature par-5 18th hole, where you'll have two options off the tee. One side offers the more conservative lay-up, while the other option involves clearing the creek but gives you the chance to get home in two on this 520-yard hole. Fairway bunkers loom ominously, and the long green is extremely prone to a three-jack.
Before you get to that one, though, two par 3s stand out on each side. No. 4 plays 171 yards into a pond and a rock-guarded, three-tiered green. No. 16 goes 216 yards into another multi-level green guarded by water and sand on the right.
Legacy Hills Golf Club's ninth hole rivals the 18th as the signature -- it plays 357 yards uphill, with a creek along the left and fairway bunkers waiting for your tee shot. The approach involves a waterfall, but it's actually more scenic that it is difficult since a good drive leaves you with a short iron in.

Great course for the money
Course was well manicured and in great shape. Front nine is noticeable shorter than back. I will play here again.
Great Course if it's in the right condition
I've played here many times, it's hit or miss on the pace - if it's nice weather expect a slow round as this is a seniors club. Lots of fun holes with doglegs, not much elevation change, but you can't expect that on many courses in Texas. Bunkers are usually maintained well and greens are usually a little on the slower side. There are no facilities for snacks on any of the Sun City courses so bring your own or suffer. Overall, a place thats fun to visit if you're willing to make the drive and it's available.
Course looked really nice.
Made an early tee time for presidents day with forecasts calling for 55 degree Temps and 10% chance of rain. Woke up to 35 degree Temps and hard rain but because the course was "open", we were forced to try to play a round in a 26 degree wind chill and hard rain, made it through 2 holes and had to leave because my father in law who is currently receiving chemotherapy treatments could not continue. I understand the no refund policy for no shows and cancelations, I just wish there was another option when the weather is really bad. Even if they could just give a credit of what I paid towards a later "full price" tee time that would have been great. Then maybe I wouldn't feel like I had been "had".
Nice Course
Nice Course - A Must play if your in the area
Hole 2 or 3 has a choice of 2 fairways.
Awesome course
Very good course. Fun, exciting holes and very nice greens/fairways. Very slow pace of play, only got in 13 holes before it got too dark, but for $10 I can't complain too much.
Nice but...
Have played here several times and I really like the course. It has character and in good shape.
However, whereas the staff is generally very nice, I was a little frustrated with them on this visit.
I arrived 15 minutes before my tee time, which was late afternoon, and I was immediately being rushed by the staff in the clubhouse to get my stuff and tee off ASAP. when I needed to use the restroom first, this seemed to perturb them further.
It was obvious we were the last tee time and they didn't want to stay more than needed that night.
Just a little frustrating when the staff is more concerned with getting home early than they are with creating a nice environment for their guests.
Summertime in TX (HOT)
Played course on Sunday afternoon hotdeal so value good. Course conditions dry and if you were just off the fairways you were in the desert often rocky with cactus. Tee to green hard and fast. Greens AIRATED apparently a couple of weeks ago according to my playing partners. COurse needs some water and attention to the bunkers. Would recommend since the layout is fun.
Golfer
I played 18 holes with my Granddaughter. We both had a great time, We had played at Legacy Hills once before and enjoyed it very much, I truly feel that I got more than my moneys worth. Thanks you to everyone at Legacy Hills.
Great value
Sun city has three courses, legacy is the most challenging. The grounds are well kept and after 1:00 you can't beat their prices. The course has some weird Holes with some trees placed in the middle of fairway.
The staff and members aren't to friendly. Keep In mind this is a semi private club and also in a retirement community for 55 yrs and older.
Excellent out of the way spot
So having played this course a few times, I have a more in depth understanding than just a one round review for you. First off, I recommend bringing your entire foursome with you. Getting paired up with locals provides a unique round of golf that may not suit a more serious game. Not serious in line up the putt like its the Masters serious. Just a little more than non stop conversation.
That out of the way. The course does not have any type of concession stand nor a cart person bringing beverages around. From what I can tell this is a BYOB with cart coolers for the ready and ice intermittently spaced out across the course. Big fan of that.
Decent practice facilities and newish balls that fly true. Carts are awesome! They are not only electric but also have built in GPS. Real arial views as well. Awesome feature. Saves a ton of time.
The first hole is a really nice downhilll par 4 that is reachable with the right club from the right t box. Second hole is beautiful. Split fairways, a ride over a nice wooden bridge over the river gets the day going just right. The rest of the course is great in condition and test of skill ASSUMING you are playing where you should be playing from! Number 9 is really nice as well from the gold t box. Great running water all down the left side and behind the green. Should be the 18th hole to be honest (as the 18th is a pretty bland par 5). That would definitely make for a more memorable visit.
The course has some long par 4's from the gold t box's. Definitely want to be on the right side of the fairway (preferably the middle) to avoid trees blocking your approach shots to the greens. The greens are business as usual, nothing tricky about it.
All in all, if you are in North Austin and have some time, this is an excellent choice. It is probably my favorite of the 3 community courses in Sun City. Price is right in line with where it should be at 44$ considering no refreshments or food. I definitely recommend this course if you are in the area for a few days.
Not friendly staff and members
Just mean staff and members. They make you feel like you don't belong! I just want to play some golf
Very nice course
This is an excellent course and good value. One of the nicest venues in central TX be far. The greens were not in good shape at all however, and made the round less enjoyable.
Good Value
Course is in great shape for this time of year. Greens could roll better but were recently punched and sanded. Traps are beautifully maintained as well as the fairways and rough. Could use a snack bar. Great value for the money and condition.
Work in Progress
I've played this course several times in the spring, and with the discount I got on GolfNow, I decided to go again. Things have changed.
The lady at the front desk seemed quite bothered that I dare walk up to the counter looking for attention when she was carrying on a conversation with some other ladies in the pro shop. Eventually, she assisted.
Got to the course and the tee boxes were pretty good, and I could easily see that the fairways were being worked on. Most of the fairways are covered in thousands of small aeration plugs. But once I hit the first green, I was in for a shock. Imagine a torn up road with holes and chunks. Though it's not on the scale of a Department of Transportation Project, it was quite enough to affect each and every shot our group took.
When hitting the put, you could watch it bouncing up and down as it hit the peaks and valleys. When making one of this perfect wedge lofts onto the green, it was so hard that it would bouce a couple of feet, along with a good spray of sand that reminded me of a meteor impacting.
But for $22.00, what can you expect???
Oh yes, we did get to see quite a few deer and wild turkeys wandering around.

Excellent condition. I look forward playing there again.
Above Expectations
Course in great shape, greens alittle slow but very smooth. Play was very fast, I believe they have a lot of members that play in the AM, I was playing in PM course was wide open saw very few other players. The layout is nice, played from gold tees which are about 6700 yards and it plays long for the yardage on the card. The course does not have holes with extreme carries which is great for juniors or seniors, although it does have 1 or 2. Rough was difficult heavy Bermuda, but fairways are wide. Overall outstanding, bring a hot putter if you play because the greens are large and tiered.
Bring $1 bills
Great golf course with multiple tee boxes to accommodate all skill levels. The only issue is that there is no snack bar, and no beer-cart on the course. There are vending machines at the turn and in two other locations on the course. That's it. And the pro shop can't give you cash back from a card, so bring cash (preferrable $1 bills because the gatorade is an inconvenient $1.75 with no ability for the machines to take cards). The carts have a cooler with ice and GPS, so that's nice. I would recommend stocking up on drinks before you arrive or just bringing a bunch of $1 bills. The staff and course are wonderful.
Legacy Hills
Greens are shabby and bumpy. Fairways are good. Speed of play is average.
Nice course
Wide fairways, but a number of sand traps. Easy, relaxed course.
rude pro shop service and rude/dangerous other players
My 13 year old son booked a tee time to play as a single (my wife drove his cart). He is a very proficient player who can play with me in 3 hour rounds as part of a foursome. The "gentleman" working the pro shop counter argued with my son and wife that they had booked their tee time for a different day (he ultimately found out he was wrong) and scoffed at my son for booking a tee time as a "onesome". My son waited on EVERY hole for people in front of him (until they finally drove through several holes to get past the log jam in front of them). In spite of the fact my son was waiting on a players ahead of him the group behind him yelled at him to hit and eventually started hitting into him. It is no wonder the number of youth and new people playing has gone way down. It is amazing the "adults" behind a 13 year old boy would be yelling at him and hitting balls into him and his mother (real classy and tough guys they are) especially in light of the fact that he was WAITING on people in front of him.
