Legacy Hills Golf Club
About
Legacy Hills Golf Club opened in fall 1996 and immediately gained the respect of the central Texas golf community. Designed by Greg Cash and Billy Casper, the course blends in beautifully with the natural terrain, featuring rolling hills, old oak trees, ravines, and numerous elevation changes, both in the fairway and on the greens.
Berry Creek runs through the layout, and is integral to the signature par-5 18th hole, where you'll have two options off the tee. One side offers the more conservative lay-up, while the other option involves clearing the creek but gives you the chance to get home in two on this 520-yard hole. Fairway bunkers loom ominously, and the long green is extremely prone to a three-jack.
Before you get to that one, though, two par 3s stand out on each side. No. 4 plays 171 yards into a pond and a rock-guarded, three-tiered green. No. 16 goes 216 yards into another multi-level green guarded by water and sand on the right.
Legacy Hills Golf Club's ninth hole rivals the 18th as the signature -- it plays 357 yards uphill, with a creek along the left and fairway bunkers waiting for your tee shot. The approach involves a waterfall, but it's actually more scenic that it is difficult since a good drive leaves you with a short iron in.

great course
great course the only thing that through my game off was that some of the greens were really quick. Plan on going back to better my score.
Overall course performance was satisfactory, but...
Our experience at Legacy Hills this past week was satisfactory. I don't normally play on a Thursday but the GN price was unbelievable and unbeatable! So why the satisfactory or 3 star rating? Because the week before the greens were amazing. If I rated the course last week it would have received 5 stars with a pristine rating. Courses change and maintenance has be done. The price was so good I can overlook the sanded greens and cart path only. Legacy Hills is a course I would recommend.
Good course
I got to play this course on a "Hot Deal" and really enjoyed it for the price I paid. The fairways have some run in them but aren't rock hard either. Greens were consistent and putted well. Staff was extremely friendly and I would definitely go back.
My only complaint would be allowing the group in front of us to blast loud rap music out of their cart. They were part of a scramble tournament being played at the same time I was out there. It's cool to have fun, but I could literally hear it 250 yards away. I pay to get away from loud noises on a golf course, not near them.
Excellent golf value; enjoyed our round!
The course was in good shape, greens were pretty quick. Nice pace of play and we felt for the money spent, it was an excellent golf value; we'll be back! Be aware no food or beverages (other than vending machines) are available on this course, but they have no problem with bringing your own refreshments in.
Well maintained course with lots of challenges
The Sun City courses are all well kept. They get LOTS of play but, also get lots of attention. This time of year the dormant fairways are cut very tight, but, the greens are always fast and roll smooth. A nice variety of holes.
Below previous standards
The course looks like it's the middle of winter, brown and dry. The fairways are hard, dry and fast. For you who take a divot, be careful; you can hurt your wrist on these dry and hard fairways. The greens are also dry and only hold approach shots with a lot of spin. But, they do put true. Even at the 'Hot Deals' rate, reconsider your choice. Try Cowan Creek instead. I'm staying away until they resolve the water problem, which is odd. They get effluent from the local city; as much as they want.
Nice overall course
The course is not overly long nor is it short but provides some challenging tee shots and the need for some shot shaping. The fairways are dormant but its winter so that should be expected at this time of year. Greens have mulitple tiers and are fairly quick. Overall it is a nice course and is not that busy for this area.
Very pretty course.
A course of this level should have a soda/snack person going around selling snacks and drinks. There was only a snack vending machine between hole 9 and 10. We did not have correct change so we were out of luck because the machine only took exact change.
One of Austin's best layouts for a great price
I have always ranked Legacy Hills in my top 10 for Austin public courses and the fact that you can play it on the weekend for so cheap is icing on the cake. Course is good condition. Two thumbs up!
A pretty layout but very challenging. Got a great price on a Saturday afternoon via GolfNow.
Legacy Hills is one of the 3 courses at Sun City Georgetown. I have played it several times and always find it to be a very challenging round of golf. The fairways are not yet coming out of the winter dormancy but are close with warm temps now upon us in this part of the state. The greens are in surprisingly good condition for winter. There is a premium on keeping your drive off the tee in good position. Trees line most fairways and that can mean trouble for errant drives. The maintenance crew has definitely improved the care and condition of the sand traps and fairway bunkers. Many have pure white beach-quality sand and are raked nicely. Had lots of fun playing this course on a very beautiful Central Texas day. The membership of Sun City are a welcoming group of seniors who are friendly and do not mind sharing their courses with the public on the weekends. Legacy Hills is a great value. I recommend this course to anyone looking for a fun round of golf.
Great secluded course with rivers and pleasant hills.
We really enjoyed playing here. However, no food, bar, or grill, is a HUGE disappointment. Vending machine was half empty. Could of used a food cart person offering something. Eat or bring your own before you play here.
well worth the drive
This was my first experience with the Sun City complex and it wont be my last! Legacy Hills provided everything you could ask for to have a great day of golfing fun. Thecourse was in great condition, especially the greens. It's a fairly short course so you don't have to hit driver on every par 4, but hitting the correct side of the fairways is key to having a chance to hit it close. There are almost no straight holes on the course and being able to work the ball off the tee is vital to avoid the many fairway bunkers. Almost every green is multi tiered and if you want to avoid 3 putts you'd better hit the right one. Overall, I'd give Legacy 4.5 stars.
you wont be disappointed
at 7000 yards from the tips ..you don't feel like your at a retirement community .... looks wide open but don't be fooled .....shot making at a premium here ... great rolling greens fast fairways ( wintertime rolls) practice facilities for warm-up top notch... can hear starter just fine ...scenic views of southwestern Williamson county hills love the place
Great track for the money.
The Sun City courses are always well maintained. Pace of play was good for a Saturday. The course was not overseeded for the winter but was still in good shape. The patrons could be more dilegent in fixing ball marks on the greens and raking the sand traps. Otherwise a fabulous track.
Course is challenging and is good for all level of golfers
Nice course, does lack a good putting green as the current one is small with large crowds
consistently maintained challenging course
Certainly enjoy keeping this course in the rotation of rounds we play. They make you think about quite a few shots with use of trees, slope, elevation change, and hazards. After a couple rounds, you figure out what tree to hit over, when to bomb it, and when to select a lesser club to avoid potential issues. And on #15, that's not a big bush down there in the fairway ... it's the top of some trees; there's a dry, rock filled creek bed down there. So, hit a shot to finish at the 150yd marker (but not any farther) and you'll be in good shape.
Great layout.
Great course. Bring your own food and beer. There is no grill or beverage cart.
Very orderly pace of play & scheduling.
We had a great time with the 2 guys who were paired with my husband and me. The late (2:24) tee time had us finishing in the dark - difficult to see on the last 2 holes. Also, the women's tees are confusing. Sometimes there are red forward tees and sometimes only green (seniors?) tees. Otherwise, a really nice course and a terrific value. Overall beautiful facility - driving range, putting green and course.
