Legacy Hills Golf Club
About
Legacy Hills Golf Club opened in fall 1996 and immediately gained the respect of the central Texas golf community. Designed by Greg Cash and Billy Casper, the course blends in beautifully with the natural terrain, featuring rolling hills, old oak trees, ravines, and numerous elevation changes, both in the fairway and on the greens.
Berry Creek runs through the layout, and is integral to the signature par-5 18th hole, where you'll have two options off the tee. One side offers the more conservative lay-up, while the other option involves clearing the creek but gives you the chance to get home in two on this 520-yard hole. Fairway bunkers loom ominously, and the long green is extremely prone to a three-jack.
Before you get to that one, though, two par 3s stand out on each side. No. 4 plays 171 yards into a pond and a rock-guarded, three-tiered green. No. 16 goes 216 yards into another multi-level green guarded by water and sand on the right.
Legacy Hills Golf Club's ninth hole rivals the 18th as the signature -- it plays 357 yards uphill, with a creek along the left and fairway bunkers waiting for your tee shot. The approach involves a waterfall, but it's actually more scenic that it is difficult since a good drive leaves you with a short iron in.

Fun course, very good condition
The course was great, in really good shape and an excellent buy for the money!
Consistently good course
I have played the 3 courses at Sun City probably a dozen times and all 3 are good. Current conditions for Legacy Hills - Tee boxes great, fairways and rough are good (a few mushy areas from watering), greens are satisfactory, I would recommend playing if you haven't yet.
All in all was pleased.
Enjoyed the course. Plays relatively easy for the ladies.
Nice Open course.
Great condition. Not so difficult, but some holes have some interesting challenges that makes it very enjoyable play.
Fun layout
Overall a hidden gem for the cost! Although some may say the course is a little short for the power players, it has some rolling fairways, several elevated tees, greens and shots over water to add some fun challenges. Plus, the greens were in nice condition. No snack bar or drink cart so you can also bring your own beverages.
Challenging track that is fair
Best shape I have ever seen Legacy in.....Fairways' lush and greens in great shape...Played late evening with friend in less than 3 hours!!
Pristine condition, great pace, challenging but not to difficult.
Can not believe I have lived in Austin for the past seven years and no one told me how nice Legacy Hills golf course was. Can't wait to play White Wing and Cowan Creek especially if there any thing like Legacy Hills.
Excellent condition
Owing to the fact that it is located in a retirement community and it is August in Texas, the golf course was not crowded when we teed off shortly after 11:00 on a Saturday. The practice tee had good turf and reasonly new balls. The greens on the golf course were in very good shape - holding well-hit shots, rolling about 10.5 and putting true. Tee boxes and fairways were in excellent shape. The roughs had been mowed to a fair height - moderately challenging to play from but not high enough to prevent us from finding errant shots. This is a well-designed course with a fun mix of holes and a Hill Country feel. Pace of play was very good - the threesome ahead of us didn't hold up our foursome of faster players too much. The superintendent has done a good job of keeping everything green and playable despite the heat. The only negatives - and they are minor - were: the sand mixture in the bunkers appeared to be new and played really soft, and the concession area doesn't sell any kind of alcoholic beverage. We were told it's okay to bring your own, so at least we know for next time.
Solid course in good shape and fun for all
Course in good shape tee to green; greens were a little slower than fast putting green, but overall moderate speed; bunkers have fine powdery sand :); among the many courses, I'd put this in the top 20%; course has personality, it has challenges but fun for any level of golfer.
Good course
Course i good condition. Greens hard to read. Need to play this one a few times to really understand the course layout.
Course in great shape
I was very pleased With the staff and the shape of the course
Nice but ...
Course is currently in good shape, plays well ... Tightest of the three sun city courses, which may be why it's my least favorite ... Staff at the pro shop is not very helpful, nor very nice .. I don't know if they treat everyone with disinterest and lack of customer service or just non residents ... All I can say is, don't ask them a question which requires judgment or discretion because they have neither.
The course was in excellent condition and no one was on it.
At almost 6700 yards the couse required you to use every club in the bag.
enjoy the course,recomend it often
enjoy the course, play it as often as possible.the staff is hepfull and friendly, doesn't matter if you play in the morning or afternoon.
great course
The course was in great shape. Played in 3 and on half hours. good price.
Nice course
Disappointing to get out to the course to find we were playing in a shotgun start. No indication till we had paid our money. Pace of play extremely slow because marshals were reluctant to speed up one particular group, only playing nine holes. Very frustrating waiting on holes for 5 to 7 mins
Can't beat this course for the price! Aaaand BYOB is a huge savings!
All 3 Sun City courses are very well kept and challenging. White Wing is my personal favorite. I didnt remember Legacy Hills playing so tough. I played very well but it seemed very long this day and very challenging. It seemed like every par 4 was over 420yds and it didnt help that the air was super heavy that day.
Its tough not to enjoy a day of golf at any of these 3 courses at sun city. THe only downside is on occassion they have a shot gun start on the weekends and only 1 tee time. Most golfers out there are retired and older so at times it can be slow. During the week you rarely have that issue.
Legacy Hills on Father's Day.
Love the course. Great for my wife as a beginner as the ladies tees offer her a test without being terribly long. For me, a testy front nine and a very challenging back nine.
Nice course with moderate difficulty
The only issue I had with the course was the greens. Some weren't in very good shape, and one was in very bad shape. I liked the variety of the layout, though.
Good time!
This was my first time playing and I enjoyed it. The course was in good condition. I'm looking forward to going back when I get some time! Great course!
I live there -- you received the same friendly treatment that local residents get. Sigh!!
