The original Squaw Valley course, Apache Links, opened in 1992–a Jeff Brauer design that is open on the front and more densely wooded on the back. Brauer’s work involved bringing in dirt to provide some mounding to the flat terrain, and he placed the course along a scenic creek that comes into play, mostly on the back.
No. 9 is the best hole on the front because of its split fairway. Macho men can go for the green by aiming over the lake–otherwise it plays a pedestrian 362 yards if you choose the left side, where it doglegs around the lake.
On the back, Nos. 15 and 16 are back-to-back par 4s that you’ll be glad to get out of the way. The 15th rolls 462 yards and doglegs right, requiring a tee shot over the creek. The long approach is especially challenging due to the long row of trees at the corner of the green. Hole 16 features an elevated green above Squaw Creek. Play for position off the tee because the hole is not long.

Greens are very bad.
Greens are awful. Not sure when they can be playable but if you like plinko you will like the greens on the Links course.

I have played this course many times. I really like the layout, but the greens are terrible right now

45 bucks to play on a Monday after 2pm with terrible greens? What a joke! This place has gone down hill fast.

PREFER THE LAKES COURSE
Great course; rough greens.
One of my favorite courses, but the greens right now are very rough. There are bare patches and underkept spots, but the worst is the thousands of little tufts of new grass sprouts that cause your ball to bounce and swerve left or right. These make having anything close to an accurate putt nearly impossible - easily cost me 8-10 strokes. I hope these grow out soon - it's the only detracting thing to this course.
Atrocious Greens
I was highly disappointed in the conditions of the greens. Would have been easier to putt temporary greens. These are some of the worst greens in the area if not the worst. Usually the greens are really nice. Recommend calling first to see if the greens are in playing condition. If, don't waste your time and money.
