Squaw Valley Golf Course - Apache Links Course
About
The original Squaw Valley course, Apache Links, opened in 1992–a Jeff Brauer design that is open on the front and more densely wooded on the back. Brauer’s work involved bringing in dirt to provide some mounding to the flat terrain, and he placed the course along a scenic creek that comes into play, mostly on the back.
No. 9 is the best hole on the front because of its split fairway. Macho men can go for the green by aiming over the lake–otherwise it plays a pedestrian 362 yards if you choose the left side, where it doglegs around the lake.
On the back, Nos. 15 and 16 are back-to-back par 4s that you’ll be glad to get out of the way. The 15th rolls 462 yards and doglegs right, requiring a tee shot over the creek. The long approach is especially challenging due to the long row of trees at the corner of the green. Hole 16 features an elevated green above Squaw Creek. Play for position off the tee because the hole is not long.

slow play made for a frusating day of great great golf
i loved the course but pace of play was extremely slow
Excellent condition
The fairways were good. The rough wasn't to punishing. And the greens were true.
Excellent conditions
This is a very nice course and very nice greens. There are two courses and in very excellent condition. I would recommend to everyone, cause this is a hidden gem. A most play.
Fabulous
This is one of my favorite courses in all of the 5 states I play in fairly regularly. Beautiful and interesting
Great course - worth the trip
Drove down from Fort Worth to play, and it was well worth the drive. Nice layout that is fun and challenging for all levels of golfers. Course is well maintained, not perfect, so not a 5, but good; greens rolled well, good grass in both the fairways and roughs, but like most courses, the traps leave a little to be desired.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
This is a must play, and a place that I will visit often.
Hidden Gem
Great course for the money. Well worth the drive. Played the links course and it was in perfect condition. The only complaint I have is that I didn't get to play the lakes course right after.
Apache link
Course in good shape fun to play greens were holding good looking forward to playing it again
AAAAA+
Great day with. My son . What more could you ask for . Great staff great rate .
36 holes great for easy play
Both courses are fun to play, condition always good but half the bunkers need much attention.
Loved it
Was down in Texas visiting my brother who lives in the DFW area.
We had played a couple courses local to his home in Midlothian (Tangle Ridge, Prairie lakes), and decided to try out Squaw Valley based on a) the excellent deal on GolfNow, and b) the positive reviews here.
It was an easy drive down Route 67 to the course, and we got there in well under the 1-hour predicted by Google - so if you're in the Dallas metroplex, put this place on your list.
The price could not be beat - the two of us played 18 with cart at 9:12 am on a Friday for @ $42 - that's not EACH, but for the two of us. Being from the Northeast, I was blown away - I pay $65 at my local..!
We played the Apache (or “Links”# course and it was very nice – the first 7-8 holes are Links style then the rest is more traditional. Fairways, rough and greens were in great shape. Even though the greens had recently been punched, they still rolled true and really accepted your shots in. The Texas wind really comes in to play on several holes and keeps you thinking. Only negative was that the fairway bunkers definitely need some work, as is mentioned in other reviews – the greenside bunkers were in fine condition, though. We played from the White tees #slope 124# since my brother had not played all year, and it was plenty challenging for this “bogey golfer”. I’m sure dropping back to the Blue or Gold tees would provide a fine test for lower handicaps.
Next time I’m in the area, I’ll definitely be back to try the Comanche #“Lakes”) course – I can only imagine it’s just as nice. My brother felt the same way – two big “thumbs up” for Squaw Valley.
great time
Great course both of them well manicured. Worth the 40 mile drive. Will be back very soon.
Great shape
The course was in great shape. We play there the week after the punch the greens so the course we play isn't to busy, yet the greens are in good shape. We enjoy both courses at squaw valley. Definatlly recommend to play it.
Fun in the rain!
Played the Comanche Lakes course yesterday. The course was in fine shape ad we were having a great time playing. On the 12th hole it started raining and continued. We completed our round with water standing on greens, mushy fairways ad we were soaked to the bone. We had a great time and laughed at our "bad luck". The course was great and I highly advise giving it a try, although a little drier weather would be recommended.
Great Deal
Great course in great condition. Didn't have to wait on anyone on a Friday morning. Staff was very friendly. Will def be going back. Comanche course is prettier than Apache but both are worth every penny.
This course was great
Loved the course layout & conditions. The staff very friendly & will play there again for sure.
Great Course
Course was in excellent condition ,took my wife she loved playing there, fairways were near as perfect as i've seen anywhere and so were the greens,a touch fast but fair.We played the Commanche side and will be returning .We played our round in 3 1/2 hours for our 18 on a Monday morning.
Speed golf expected
We played 18 holes in less than 4.5 hrs. and we were approached 2 times to speed up play and they were very rude about it. Now i've been playing this great game for decades and a normal round is about 4.5 hrs.for a foursome. At no time were we slow. Turns out they were greedy. A tournament was planned and they packed the coarse before hand and decided to ruin ours and others rounds to get us off the coarse. Last I checked I paid to play there and not play speed golf. Will not go back! I'm sure they could care less.
Nice track
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was some of the fairway bunkers. I'm not sure if they were supposed to be ground under repair...but there was no sand on a few holes. We played the lakes and the tee boxes, fairways and green side bunkers were all in great shape. The greens are excellent, best I've played in DFW this year. Worth the drive, overall a great round..I'll definitely play this track again.
one of my favorite courses to play
Worth the drive. The ice cold bottled water is a nice touch.
Play Both
An excellent opportunity to play 36 . Courses similar in difficulty and enjoyable . Greens soft but speedy . Bunkers need work and more sand .
