Squaw Valley Golf Course - Apache Links Course
About
The original Squaw Valley course, Apache Links, opened in 1992–a Jeff Brauer design that is open on the front and more densely wooded on the back. Brauer’s work involved bringing in dirt to provide some mounding to the flat terrain, and he placed the course along a scenic creek that comes into play, mostly on the back.
No. 9 is the best hole on the front because of its split fairway. Macho men can go for the green by aiming over the lake–otherwise it plays a pedestrian 362 yards if you choose the left side, where it doglegs around the lake.
On the back, Nos. 15 and 16 are back-to-back par 4s that you’ll be glad to get out of the way. The 15th rolls 462 yards and doglegs right, requiring a tee shot over the creek. The long approach is especially challenging due to the long row of trees at the corner of the green. Hole 16 features an elevated green above Squaw Creek. Play for position off the tee because the hole is not long.

Outstanding Facility
Course is in great condition, staff is incredible, they are friendly and very helpful. Greens roll very true and fast. They also have an outstanding practice area with two putting greens, bunker green, and very nice driving range.
Very great course to play
You can"t ask for more here, a great play to play and to pick your challenge with to different course.
Thanks so much for the review! We hope to see you back out soon
Alan
Excellent courses & both in excellent condition. Having played both course numerous times they are neither to difficult or easy, just very pleasant courses to play. Look forward to returning in the very near future.
Thanks so much for your feedback and telling us about your experience over playing both of our golf courses! We look forward to seeing you back out soon and hope you continue to have a positive experience!
Excellent challenge
I've played golf for over 20yrs am a solid 7hcp and have played courses all over the country. This is a great challenge the greens are huge and the ball rolls true! Best greens around, you have grass in the fairways, the only thing they could improve would be the bunkers. Other than that this is the best bang for your buck...
Shannon, Thanks for your continued loyalty and we sure do appreciate your feedback! You are welcome back anytime and we look forward to your next visit!
always great course to play
again a very nice round of golf in glen rose.
course in very good condition even after a lot of rain the days before.
frankbwn, Thanks for the review and we sure appreciate your loyalty. We look forward to seeing you next time!
Two great layouts
Love playing the Lakes, but the Links is just as nice. I live in far North Ft Worth, takes an hour and 15 minutes to make the drive. It's just worth the drive. I've always finished my rounds in 4 hours here.
Ronnie, Thanks for taking the trip out to see us and we are glad you enjoyed your experience. You are definitely welcome back anytime!
Great Place to Have a Relaxed Round of Golf
I just happened to see this course on my way up to Dallas. Decided to give it a try and I don't regret doing it. Great golf course, fairways and greens in very good conditions. I enjoyed the scenery a lot. Will be back
Dwight, Glad you found us! Thanks for stopping in to play and we look forward to seeing you in the future!
Worth the trip
Took us a little under four hours to complete the round. Layout of the links course is a little plain to start with, but has some great design features from #7-18. Really well maintained, good-great putting surfaces. Will be back.
Enjoyable Round of Golf
The management was very understanding when we had someone who was late in our group and squeezed us in after a tournament passed thru. Course was in good shape small trouble areas were GUR but understandable in these Texas conditions.
very enjoyable day of golf.
Great conditon for play.
Except for course bathrooms, with Snake warnings and cleanness, the golf course was in great good condition for play, and enjoyed playing both course for the first time.
slow play made for a frusating day of great great golf
i loved the course but pace of play was extremely slow
Excellent condition
The fairways were good. The rough wasn't to punishing. And the greens were true.
Excellent conditions
This is a very nice course and very nice greens. There are two courses and in very excellent condition. I would recommend to everyone, cause this is a hidden gem. A most play.
Fabulous
This is one of my favorite courses in all of the 5 states I play in fairly regularly. Beautiful and interesting
Great course - worth the trip
Drove down from Fort Worth to play, and it was well worth the drive. Nice layout that is fun and challenging for all levels of golfers. Course is well maintained, not perfect, so not a 5, but good; greens rolled well, good grass in both the fairways and roughs, but like most courses, the traps leave a little to be desired.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
This is a must play, and a place that I will visit often.
Hidden Gem
Great course for the money. Well worth the drive. Played the links course and it was in perfect condition. The only complaint I have is that I didn't get to play the lakes course right after.
Apache link
Course in good shape fun to play greens were holding good looking forward to playing it again
AAAAA+
Great day with. My son . What more could you ask for . Great staff great rate .
36 holes great for easy play
Both courses are fun to play, condition always good but half the bunkers need much attention.
Loved it
Was down in Texas visiting my brother who lives in the DFW area.
We had played a couple courses local to his home in Midlothian (Tangle Ridge, Prairie lakes), and decided to try out Squaw Valley based on a) the excellent deal on GolfNow, and b) the positive reviews here.
It was an easy drive down Route 67 to the course, and we got there in well under the 1-hour predicted by Google - so if you're in the Dallas metroplex, put this place on your list.
The price could not be beat - the two of us played 18 with cart at 9:12 am on a Friday for @ $42 - that's not EACH, but for the two of us. Being from the Northeast, I was blown away - I pay $65 at my local..!
We played the Apache (or “Links”# course and it was very nice – the first 7-8 holes are Links style then the rest is more traditional. Fairways, rough and greens were in great shape. Even though the greens had recently been punched, they still rolled true and really accepted your shots in. The Texas wind really comes in to play on several holes and keeps you thinking. Only negative was that the fairway bunkers definitely need some work, as is mentioned in other reviews – the greenside bunkers were in fine condition, though. We played from the White tees #slope 124# since my brother had not played all year, and it was plenty challenging for this “bogey golfer”. I’m sure dropping back to the Blue or Gold tees would provide a fine test for lower handicaps.
Next time I’m in the area, I’ll definitely be back to try the Comanche #“Lakes”) course – I can only imagine it’s just as nice. My brother felt the same way – two big “thumbs up” for Squaw Valley.
Thank you so much for your review and feedback of Squaw Valley Golf Course. We are so happy you think so highly of our staff as they are such an important part of our golf course. Please let us know if you need anything while you are here and we look forward to you coming back and golfing with us again.
