Squaw Valley Golf Course - Apache Links Course
About
The original Squaw Valley course, Apache Links, opened in 1992–a Jeff Brauer design that is open on the front and more densely wooded on the back. Brauer’s work involved bringing in dirt to provide some mounding to the flat terrain, and he placed the course along a scenic creek that comes into play, mostly on the back.
No. 9 is the best hole on the front because of its split fairway. Macho men can go for the green by aiming over the lake–otherwise it plays a pedestrian 362 yards if you choose the left side, where it doglegs around the lake.
On the back, Nos. 15 and 16 are back-to-back par 4s that you’ll be glad to get out of the way. The 15th rolls 462 yards and doglegs right, requiring a tee shot over the creek. The long approach is especially challenging due to the long row of trees at the corner of the green. Hole 16 features an elevated green above Squaw Creek. Play for position off the tee because the hole is not long.

great time
Great course both of them well manicured. Worth the 40 mile drive. Will be back very soon.
Great shape
The course was in great shape. We play there the week after the punch the greens so the course we play isn't to busy, yet the greens are in good shape. We enjoy both courses at squaw valley. Definatlly recommend to play it.
Fun in the rain!
Played the Comanche Lakes course yesterday. The course was in fine shape ad we were having a great time playing. On the 12th hole it started raining and continued. We completed our round with water standing on greens, mushy fairways ad we were soaked to the bone. We had a great time and laughed at our "bad luck". The course was great and I highly advise giving it a try, although a little drier weather would be recommended.
Great Deal
Great course in great condition. Didn't have to wait on anyone on a Friday morning. Staff was very friendly. Will def be going back. Comanche course is prettier than Apache but both are worth every penny.
This course was great
Loved the course layout & conditions. The staff very friendly & will play there again for sure.
Great Course
Course was in excellent condition ,took my wife she loved playing there, fairways were near as perfect as i've seen anywhere and so were the greens,a touch fast but fair.We played the Commanche side and will be returning .We played our round in 3 1/2 hours for our 18 on a Monday morning.
Speed golf expected
We played 18 holes in less than 4.5 hrs. and we were approached 2 times to speed up play and they were very rude about it. Now i've been playing this great game for decades and a normal round is about 4.5 hrs.for a foursome. At no time were we slow. Turns out they were greedy. A tournament was planned and they packed the coarse before hand and decided to ruin ours and others rounds to get us off the coarse. Last I checked I paid to play there and not play speed golf. Will not go back! I'm sure they could care less.
Nice track
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was some of the fairway bunkers. I'm not sure if they were supposed to be ground under repair...but there was no sand on a few holes. We played the lakes and the tee boxes, fairways and green side bunkers were all in great shape. The greens are excellent, best I've played in DFW this year. Worth the drive, overall a great round..I'll definitely play this track again.
one of my favorite courses to play
Worth the drive. The ice cold bottled water is a nice touch.
Play Both
An excellent opportunity to play 36 . Courses similar in difficulty and enjoyable . Greens soft but speedy . Bunkers need work and more sand .
Excellent Course
My husband and I play here frequently. The course conditions are excellent and the pace of play is good. The layouts are challenging but fair. This coupled with the local attractions make it a great value. The only issue we have is the Pro shop associates deal with you in a clinical manner. It's kinda like a Good Ol Boys club - and they seem to like it that way. If you focus on the golf - you won't be disappointed. It's a little pricey but if they offered discounts or reduced the rates. - I think the volume would certainly pick up. The current conditions are fantastic.
Great course for the money
Played the Lakes Course. First six holes are links style. Lots and lots of mounds, especially around greens. Back nine goes back and forth across the creek. More trees with some elevation changes. Course is fair and not ridiculously hard.
Love this course
Played the lakes course on this day, but either course is always in good condition. Great place to catch a good price for a round of golf. Great layout, usually a good pace of play. This is my go to course when I am in the area. Highly recommend it for a casual round.
