Needs some work...
First time playing here...showed up hopeful and left disappointed. Crab grass is creaping in everywhere, the greens were filled with old divets and are in desperate need of being cut/rolled, and the pace of play was 5 hours on a Monday afternoon. Rangers came through, but no difference in pace. The cart girl was pleasant and came through multiple times. Not currently worth the price with so many other options around.
Good but not so Good
Played on Sunday with a 9:30 tee time—finished in 5 hours. Pace of play was painfully slow, and even the group ahead admitted it after the round. The marshal was aware but chose not to address it, which made for a frustrating experience.
Fairways are in good condition for this time of year, but the greens need serious attention—slow, uneven, and dotted with crabgrass. They could use a cut and a roll; right now, putting feels like rolling a ball through wet carpet.
To top it off, the clubhouse was closed, replaced by a BBQ pit and two folding tables outside. Cart girl was great. For the service and conditions provided, the current rate just doesn’t match the experience. At best, this feels like a $55 weekend round.
Patchy at best and Horrible CSvc
We have played here many times .stopped bc the course esp fairways began to look sparse at best..4mths later they are patchy at best some have recovered some need prob a year or more and better grounds .We booked with Golf Now and was suppose to pay remainder at the course so for a $55 and I paid $63.75 and my friend paid $15 + morec bc he needed his own cart sonthey charged him but didn't chge other guy for his cart ..never has happened. The front desk guy was horrible CusSvc the cart lady was Great but guy with grey beard at front desk not Goid negative Customer Svc.
We were one foursome out of very few on the course too..
Course needs an overhaul in many ways..Use to luv this course .
This course and
Poor shape, slow play
2nd group off, but waited on every shot. 4-1/2 -4-3/4 to complete. A ranger should ensure the 1st group of the day doesn't delay the entire course for the entire day.
Greens were in horrible shape. I get leaving then a bit longer eject the temps go up, but they were about a 2 on the steep meter. Also, maybe some signs regarding ball repair at each green would help your lazy patrons.
I do enjoy this course and they layout but pace of play and poor shape will destroy repeat customers.
Neat Course
The course had a unique layout. Driving through tunnels to other holes and driving through and old barn on the property. Deer everywhere. Some greens were worse than others. Manly due to people not fixing there divets on the course. Along the sides of the fairways, there are a ton of empty beer cans and trash that definitely need cleaning up. Overall it was a solid course for the money and size of it.
Disappointing
We have played Oak Creek multiple time over the last 5 years. An it was always in good condition. Unfortunately that was not the case when we played Wed 8/6. Greens were ok but some were burned up and had some weeds growing in them. Fairways were in bad shape with lots of brown patches . Looks like course may have gotten some sort of disease or something. They had sod patches along several greens. Thick grass clippings were throughout the fairways. I could go on an on but suffice to say, We were extremely disappointed as we have always enjoyed the course. Hopefully they get things back to what we use to enjoy.
Great course to play
I really enjoyed my round yesterday. I would highly recommend it to anyone who has not played this course.
Oak Creek
Some of the greens were bumpy. Fairways were not as good as usual.
Great staff. Cart girl just rode by.
Horrible Conditions
I was looking forward to trying course after hearing about it a couple of years ago. To make a long story short, it’s in the worst shape of any course I’ve played in the past couple of years, including cheap courses. The greens are gone, the fairways have brown patches, and there’s crabgrass everywhere. To make matters worse, there are ball marks all over the green and it looks like they haven’t been rolled all summer. What’s shocking is that most courses around the DC/ Baltimore area are in really good shape thanks to all the rain we’ve gotten. This course is the exception. The layout is actually really decent. Tough to enjoy, though, with such awful conditions. They must have had a pesticide issue or something to kill the course. Play at your own risk.
Thin Greens
Overall, the course was ok, there were a few holes where a small portion (20%) of some fairways haven't taken kindly to the heat. The other 80% of the fairways were in excellent condition, carpet like, very plush. Tee boxes were average and the greens were playable but they need more grass, they looked very thin and fixing ball marks was challenging, I would definitely recommend this course to anyone.
Rain on the 7th hole and No Raincheck
Severe chance of rain on the day off but we still elected to go out I hopes the storms would pass. Returned to the Club House after only 7 holes, we figured we would get a partial rain check for at least 9 holes. We were given lame excuses on why we couldn’t get a rain check. We were told that we had to wait 30 minutes. It had already been raining for 30 minutes and was still raining when I left.
Poor customer service, better course.
