About
Tangle Ridge Golf Club's location near Joe Pool Lake is favorable because of the elevation changes that spice up this well maintained public course. The course offers some outstanding holes, highlighted by impressive bentgrass greens that putt true. In addition to the elevation changes, Jeff Brauer's design features generous fairways lined by thick brush and huge trees. Two holes grab your attention on the front side. The opener goes 469 yards and might be the most difficult on the golf course. While there aren't too many hazards, bunkers protect the fairway and green, and the thick rough lining the fairway makes it a difficult long approach if you miss the smooth stuff off the tee. Tangle Ridge Golf Club's eighth hole is considered the signature: a 575-yarder that rolls downhill off the tee to a creek that cuts the fairway at 300 yards out. The approach on no. 8 must carry the creek to an elevated green protected by two massive mounds.

The restaurant staff at the clubhouse are very friendly.
Only the restaurant staff are friendly, and the staff checking in is very rude. It is especially unfriendly to Asians. I would give Course Fairway about 70 points out of 100. Perhaps because there is no Marshall, there are too many bad manners players.

Great shape, layout and value
This is one of the best kept public courses in the greater Dallas area. Greens, tee boxes and fairways are all in great shape! With a golf now hot deal discount I played it for under $30 with cart. Can't beat that! After a great day of golf head over to Cedar Hill for some excellent BBQ brisket at Harris Bar- b-que just off of Hwy 67. Its the real deal cuz they ask if you prefer the wet or dry end. Nuff said.

Return to the Ridge
Had been many years since I last played Tangle Ridge. I had moved, and the drive made it somewhat inconvenient. Found myself with a Monday off and thought, why not.
Was pleasantly suprised in the condition everything was in, considering the lack of rain fall the past few months. Everything was is awesome shape, and the course was as fun as ever.
Only downer to yesterday was the three-some in front of us. They must have had a big money game going on, because they sure took their sweet time lining up every. single. putt. Other than that, fun times!

Course shape
They have just sanded the tee boxes and greens. Fairways in great shape considering the drought we are in. You can tell they are making improvements to the bunkers and overall they are doing what needs to be done to save the course during this brutal heat wave. Can’t wait to see the results in September and October. Overall, compared to other courses in the area right now the course is in good shape regardless of the sand on the greens and tee boxes. Looking forward to play there again in the next two months.

TangleRidge
I tried this course for the first time. It was about 35 to 40 miles away from where I live. The course was wide open, so there weren’t that many players playing at that time. It’s a very nice course, however, they had aerated the greens and sanded the greens, which made it difficult to put accurately. other than that it was a nice course. I would play it again if the price was right. I enjoyed it. We have a heat wave going on here in the greater Dallas area so it’s about 104 when we were playing and a bit uncomfortable.
