About
Tangle Ridge Golf Club's location near Joe Pool Lake is favorable because of the elevation changes that spice up this well maintained public course. The course offers some outstanding holes, highlighted by impressive bentgrass greens that putt true. In addition to the elevation changes, Jeff Brauer's design features generous fairways lined by thick brush and huge trees. Two holes grab your attention on the front side. The opener goes 469 yards and might be the most difficult on the golf course. While there aren't too many hazards, bunkers protect the fairway and green, and the thick rough lining the fairway makes it a difficult long approach if you miss the smooth stuff off the tee. Tangle Ridge Golf Club's eighth hole is considered the signature: a 575-yarder that rolls downhill off the tee to a creek that cuts the fairway at 300 yards out. The approach on no. 8 must carry the creek to an elevated green protected by two massive mounds.

Course was cool but the aeration made for really inconsistent putting. Next time I’ll wait til it’s done.

The course was in great shape but it's aeration time. The price was adjusted for this. Not everybody does this 1

Good, considering the time of year.
I love the layout, a lot of undulation. I’m sure the greens will get better. Just like everywhere else as it gets warmer. Mostly a secluded course with very few homes. It doesn’t seem like it’s a very long course, but on this one, strategy is better than length. There are plenty of obstacles, including sand, water, trees, etc. I would give the course of the reading as of today, but expect it to get better towards the summer.

Great Course
Got a hot deal and had a $10 promo code. Well worth the price I paid. Paired up with a golfer familiar with the course and that helped me tremendously. Fairways had a decent amount of grass for this time of year. They ran fast which helped my shorter drives a lot. Some holes needed a drive that hit in certain areas due to contours that could get you in trouble. For the most part they were generous but did require less than driver on some holes. Most of the greens had different levels and if you did not get on the proper level would be a difficult 2 putt. Took a few holes to get the green speed down. Some greens were a little rough but rolled pretty well anyway. Got into a couple of sand traps. They had a good amount of sand in them. Got up and down out of one of them with a 58 degree wedge. Would play this course again in a few months with the greens grown in a little better.

Above average shape
Course is in above average shape for this time of year. Pace of play was fine considering it was a sold out Saturday. Price is slightly up, but so is everywhere else. Practice areas, staff, and layout make it worth playing. 1 Marshall would help (bunkers are never raked by guests) and usually around 7-8-9 there is a backup

Tangle Ridge used to be in great condition. It's the Spring time and there were brown spots all over the fairways and even some greens. Also, not a single cart person for drinks? Very strange.
