About
Tangle Ridge Golf Club's location near Joe Pool Lake is favorable because of the elevation changes that spice up this well maintained public course. The course offers some outstanding holes, highlighted by impressive bentgrass greens that putt true. In addition to the elevation changes, Jeff Brauer's design features generous fairways lined by thick brush and huge trees. Two holes grab your attention on the front side. The opener goes 469 yards and might be the most difficult on the golf course. While there aren't too many hazards, bunkers protect the fairway and green, and the thick rough lining the fairway makes it a difficult long approach if you miss the smooth stuff off the tee. Tangle Ridge Golf Club's eighth hole is considered the signature: a 575-yarder that rolls downhill off the tee to a creek that cuts the fairway at 300 yards out. The approach on no. 8 must carry the creek to an elevated green protected by two massive mounds.

Worth it
Came down from Denton for a little day play get away …. Amazing conditions… seems like a true “golfers” course. Bob in the pro shop was solid … I was running behind / firefighter. … he took care of it …. Pace was slower then 2 degree syrup … but just get more Heinekens !

I was menacingly accosted on the 18th fairway by the club attendant asking me “didn’t I tell you to have the cart in by 6:50?” It was 6:42 and I was in the middle of the fairway after crushing my drive off the tee. Reached out to the club pro—he said to consider it a one-off!! I won’t be going back!!

I want to say that the course is in good condition and the P of P was good but the most important thing was that they (staff) was great in collecting personal property that was left behind and put in the club house. My item could have been sold online easily..

Decent shape, pace of play beyond terrible.
Friday afternoon, singles and fivesomes all over the course. Saw the Marshall one time and I think he was just joyriding. For the money TR is getting for greens fees they need to act like the course they THINK they are. Conditions were decent, but the pace of play is unforgivable. Wish I could say this was something new but it's been this way for years . Get a clue.

Too slow
Thursday afternoon round, should be fast right? Nope, 4.5 hour round, waiting 10 minutes on every shot. The cart girl was super nice, weather was perfect, course was in pretty good condition. Doesn't matter how great the course is when they can't keep the pace of play reasonable. Marshall came by 4 times, but nothing he could do. Most likely they overbooked and had a tournament going on. Very elderly people playing and super slow, walking, putting everything. Won't be back here for a while.

Very well maintained course
I had a 3:40 tee time and was able to join the 3:30 group as a single. We finished in 3 hr 25min. But, had there been a ranger, we could have finished 20 min earlier. The course is in pretty good shape. I don’t care for the “fescue” rough but all in all, a nice layout. GPS on the carts is a really nice bonus. I’ll come back when I’m here next year.
