About
Tangle Ridge Golf Club's location near Joe Pool Lake is favorable because of the elevation changes that spice up this well maintained public course. The course offers some outstanding holes, highlighted by impressive bentgrass greens that putt true. In addition to the elevation changes, Jeff Brauer's design features generous fairways lined by thick brush and huge trees. Two holes grab your attention on the front side. The opener goes 469 yards and might be the most difficult on the golf course. While there aren't too many hazards, bunkers protect the fairway and green, and the thick rough lining the fairway makes it a difficult long approach if you miss the smooth stuff off the tee. Tangle Ridge Golf Club's eighth hole is considered the signature: a 575-yarder that rolls downhill off the tee to a creek that cuts the fairway at 300 yards out. The approach on no. 8 must carry the creek to an elevated green protected by two massive mounds.

The course was in good condition
The course was in good condition. The fairways were nice and mowed with all the rain. The greens were a little bumpy. The staff was friendly. Very nice overall experience.
Rough Greens
The greens are in poor shape, with a lot of bare spots and weeds all throughout. It’s a shame because the rest of the course is in good shape and it’s a fun track!
Greens absolutely horrible
One of my favorite tracks in DFW but in completely unplayable condition with damaged and poa overrun greens. Partner and I didn’t keep accurate scores due to the condition. Paired up w single on back and wouldn’t even putt out saying it’s just w waste of time.
Twilight Round - Great Value
Super cool layout, fun holes, great views. Greens were terrible - patchy, dirt, bumpy. I paid $44 for a 3:40 tee time on a weekday with a large bucket. Great value. Not mad at all. The staff was very nice, had a good time even though it was super backed up the whole time.
Nice Find
Really good layout. The greens were pretty rough - typical for this time of year. The layout was very good with some unique and challenging holes. Pretty open off of most tees but some challenging greens and on the day we played, pin locations were very challenging.
Love this layout but.......
I have always loved the design of this course but the greens have become unplayable. Its a shame that a course that could be so nice has such bad turf. Tee boxes and fairways are average at best, but the greens are like putting on broccoli right now. I hope they get this fixed someday. Until then my money is going somewhere else. Such a shame
Greens need work
Came out for twilight play so the cost was reasonable. Greens have poana so putting was a huge challenge. Overall, not bad for twilight play.
Greens going downhill
This course has a great layout and is a ton of fun to play. However, the greens are in really poor condition especially compared to what they used to be. I used to recommend this course to people coming from out of town or new to the area. It’s been about a year since I last played here and the greens have really gone downhill. I’m not sure I would pay $80 in green fees again for it being in this condition. The rest of the course is in decent shape for the time of year, but the greens make this worth about $45 to $50 for a round. There was also not a beverage cart during the entire round yesterday.
Fun course, greens are in rough shape
Played here a few times over the last year, and the greens are pretty rough right now. Lots of invasive grass growing into the green complexes, patches of the green are now just dirt, and quite a few areas along the fairways with irrigation issues. Hoping this all gets resolved very soon, as it’s one of the most interesting tracks in DFW and had great conditions in the past.
