Dead fairways
Very poor course, no green grass in the fairway very dry and hard ball rolls 50 to 75 yards. I would not recommend this course or play this course again .
Pace of play
Pace of play was extremely slow. There needs to be a Marshall pushing groups to keep up and making sure groups are not hitting 2 and 3 balls, also giving a golf lesson. The players need to play from the appropriate tee boxes. You need to play “ready golf”.
This course has seen better days
Used to be the fairway grass was a lot more greener and plentiful...not so much anymore
Would not recommend to a friend!
This is not a course I will return to. The greens were ok, but the fairways were hard pan in many areas, very neglected!
Sometimes a bit slow
Whittier Narrows is a pleasure to play, always a pleasure to play, a "mom and pop/home course" feel, except, at times, it can be a bit slow, but most golfers are very friendly and let you play through. It has a great layout, a mix of difficult and fairly easy holes, but always a challenge and don't be fooled, it's not as easy as it appears. Some second and third shots (on par 5's) can be tight and you can easily short side yourself, and the breezes are subtle but along with slightly uphill holes club selection is tricky, and so are bump and run shots into the greens where it can be a bit sticky. And all of the par 3's are challenging.
Unfriendly Staff and Running Out of Cart Battery
I've played there with my wife in the afternoon of Sunday. However, the cart was running out of battery at back nine, hole 5. We couldn't play after the cart was running out of battery and walked back to the pro-shop without playing. However, the staff in the pro-shop didn't seem to bother and all he said was I should have called the pro-shop. I've never experienced the cart running out of the battery in the middle of the golf course. So, I didn't know what to do. The staff was very unfriendly and didn't seem feel sorry for us. It was really bad experience with unprofessional and unfriendly staff in the pro-shop. I do not recommend this course to anyone. Unfriendly staff has ruined my wife's and my experience at Whittier Narrow Golf Course. The condition of fairway wasn't good either.
Great LA County course
This course is a bit confusing for a 1st timer. The course consists of three individual 9-hole segments. The fairways are well kept, long and challenging. I enjoyed playing here and I would definitely come back again.
-Sunday morning front desk has the worst attitude and service.
-The pace of play is so slow took us 5.5 hours to finish we gave up back 9 and went to their mountain 9 hole course or else we would of finished even later .
-the course on the weekend is quite pricey for what we have to go through as the course condition isn't the best.
Avoid playing here on the weekends !!
Great Conditions
I have played here several times. And the tee times special for $21 with a cart you can't beat. The course conditions from tee boxes to Fairways to around the greens and on the greens are Immaculate right now spring is the best time to play Whittier Narrows. I didn't hit a green in regulation all day so I can tell you chipping around the greens was nice no dead spots. Unless you really miss then you'll find the bad stuff so don't miss that bad LOL
Great course
Wide open fairways, and nice greens. The only issue I had was the greens had a layer of fertilizer making it challenging to putt. Otherwise it was a good experience.
Not surprised to read your comments. It is not just Whittier Narrows but every American Golf Cooperation managed course. I spoke with their regional manager, Kyle Mitchell, regarding to some issues too. But rather to apologize for the inconvenience that his staff has caused me, he turned around and pointed out my fault to dilute and justify their actions and unprofessionlism.
