About
From the fairways of Irving (formerly known as Twin Wells), you can see the skyline of downtown Dallas–a nice aesthetic for this fun, user-friendly municipal. The course is mostly an open, links-style design, although a few holes that roll along the Trinity River favor a traditional-style on the back nine.
Hole 3 stands out on the front: a 437-yard dogleg left that is protected by fairway bunkers. On the back, No. 11 is the most difficult–another long par 4 at 451 yards.
Getting there : From Hwy. 183 east, take Loop 12 south and exit Shady Grove Rd. Turn left, drive a short distance to the course, look for the clubhouse on the right side of the street.

Remodeling in progress
Looks like this course was either taken over by the city of Irving or management company. It was used to be called Twin Wells. The course was in decent shape, all the greens are elevated and have lots of contours. Fairways were good, but a few spots a little torn up from rain/carts and users not respecting the 90 degree rule. Otherwise the only complaint is lack of course guide or map on the scorecard or other signage, so had to download their app mid round to see each hole layout.

Great Dallas Area Muni
Solid golf course and a great value. Pace of play is always good, and the course is in good condition. Great value for the money. This is one of my go to courses in Dallas.

Great Value
I have been searching for the best public courses in the DFW area. I used to be a low handicap in high school and grew up at a country club. This is definitely one of the best. Tons of other courses offer some price but are in terrible condition. The greens and fairways were great! It’s a very open course but playing from the tips is a challenge. Take it from a country club kid, this course is great for the price!

Fun redesign
I had not played here since it was Twin Wells GC. Nice redesign by COlligan. Course is fairly wide open and manageable of the tee. Greens were fair and in good shape and rolled well. Pace was an issue on a friday afternoon - 2:40 to play the front 9. Joined with another twosome to play the back and it moved better. Some good sightlines from the tips and made the course play a little more straightforward. We enjoyed the course and will be back later this year.

Solid Course
Buddy and I really liked this course and enjoyed its challenges. A little muddy in some areas but aside from that all greens were in great condition.

Actual good greens right now unlike many of the other public courses in the area. Great value.

Wide open course.
Near a landfill but if the wind is right you never smell it. Grass is coming in so it will get better and better. Nice carts. Fun track.

Irving golf club April review
The course is still under renovation. The greens are good as are the fairways. There are no diagrams on course to show the hole layout. Minor issue. Also, distance markers are not extremely visible. Wish they had a ball washer occasionally. I did enjoy playing here.
Yeah, the lack of a course diagram, GPS, or yardage books was an issue. Cart path only when we played made it a guessing game.

Average Golf Course
The staff in pro shop wasn't greeting in first place. Reluctantly greet with unwelcomed face when I checked in.

Very enjoyable
I am used to mountain courses so this flat layout was a great change of pace.
Course was in very good shape for this time of year. Greens held nicely and putted true.
Was a very windy day (20+ mph gust) which apparently kept most people away.
I was only one on front nine, did run into a group on 10 tee, but they let me play through and off I went.
I really enjoyed the layout and will definitely play it again on my next trip to the Dallas area.

Fun and challenging course
Unfortunate rained the day we played and carts don’t have back rain covers. Really enjoyed course bunkers just where I hit each drive. Yes you need to know your distances and lay up etc. greens putted true. We did both lose balls in the rough/wetland so bring some extras. Thought good value for money would love to play on fine day. Also Bushnell Phantom GPS doesn’t have course which was a challenge as we from NZ and use metres. Recommend a visit.

Great conditions for season changes

Good First Time
I’m planning to go back many times during growing season. Despite the conditions of the course due to rain and dormancy, I still enjoyed playing my round.
I wouldn’t recommend trying to play the course after a rain for a few days because it seems like many sections of the course pool up. Pace of play was great, and I can see the course being top notch when the grass is green and can be manicured. Staff was friendly - from clubhouse and cart staff to the snack bar and starter. I definitely recommend giving this course a shot. Plenty of scoring opportunity as long as you have the right angles, and I think it was just the right level of a challenge.
