Irving Golf Club

About
From the fairways of Irving (formerly known as Twin Wells), you can see the skyline of downtown Dallas–a nice aesthetic for this fun, user-friendly municipal. The course is mostly an open, links-style design, although a few holes that roll along the Trinity River favor a traditional-style on the back nine.
Hole 3 stands out on the front: a 437-yard dogleg left that is protected by fairway bunkers. On the back, No. 11 is the most difficult–another long par 4 at 451 yards.
Getting there : From Hwy. 183 east, take Loop 12 south and exit Shady Grove Rd. Turn left, drive a short distance to the course, look for the clubhouse on the right side of the street.

Slowest Pace of Play and …
The course is getting better they were still building out the cart paths Which should help but the course layout does not lend itself to even a reasonable piece of play. So expect a Five hour round whenever you play here. The other main problem as with most of the GolfNow courses in Texas is that once they punch the holes, they never repeat never roll the areas around the holes which results in swelling of the area around the hole known as the ANTHILL effect. This results in a much smaller window to make short putts. So if you’re a little right at the hole, the putt will go right and left the hole the ball will left regardless of the break or grain of the surface on short putts. This wrecks everybody’s round! So please roll the cups and cut down on the weeds.
What we expect
My group plays about twice a month and play this course often. We find it a good value. Course conditions were what eere expected for an early spring round. Practise and warm up facilities are very good. Staff is friendly. We always have fun here.
Getting better each day!
New cart paths and friendly staffs ... Definitely will come back to play more.
Upgrading course
They are upgrading a lot of the cart paths so that was a mess. The greens were good and it will be nice once everything is done.
Disappointed
Such a fun layout it’s a shame how they have let it go. Back 9 was closed and we didn’t find out until we showed up. There was nowhere online mentioning any construction or closure and we were still forced to pay full price. Front 9 had construction everywhere as well, and was not offered anything for the inconvenience of not being told about the back 9 being closed until I had arrived and still made me pay full price.
Nice course but…
Unfortunately it had just rained hard early that morning so there was standing water on many of the fairways and cart paths only. The course was in good shape and because of the weather, not many on the course and we played a quick round. They are putting in all new cart paths which led to a lot of mud around the greens. I’ll play there again in a couple months.
Great Value
Played the course very early morning. Was very pleased with the overall condition of the course. Fairways were in very good shape for winter play. Greens were in great condition and were very fast. The only issue (and it is a temporary one) is the cart paths are being rebuilt and now only a few holes are still being working on. They continue to improve this course and practice areas. Good value for the Dallas market.
Too many tee times booked back to back
Tee times are way too close together, right off the 1st tee we already had 2 different groups behind us waiting. Am I the fastest player no, but I know how to keep pace…hard to enjoy it when there’s constantly groups behind you. Great course otherwise if you can play fast
Great layout
The course was in great shape despite the recent rains. There’s lots of construction going on with the cart paths that are a bit of a nuisance but they have no impact on the actual course. Would definitely play again.
Loved the greens
Pace of play was the only set back; waited on every hole. With that being said, still a good day. Greens are in excellent shape, fast and true. Fairways were above average for municipal course. Looking forward to my next round there.
