Irving Golf Club
About
From the fairways of Irving (formerly known as Twin Wells), you can see the skyline of downtown Dallas–a nice aesthetic for this fun, user-friendly municipal. The course is mostly an open, links-style design, although a few holes that roll along the Trinity River favor a traditional-style on the back nine.
Hole 3 stands out on the front: a 437-yard dogleg left that is protected by fairway bunkers. On the back, No. 11 is the most difficult–another long par 4 at 451 yards.
Getting there : From Hwy. 183 east, take Loop 12 south and exit Shady Grove Rd. Turn left, drive a short distance to the course, look for the clubhouse on the right side of the street.

Nice course, good value
Irving is a nice course for the 15+ handicap golfer. Nice layout...challenging but not soul-crushing. Normally good pace of play
A Little Disappointed
I have played this course several times since it opened. I was surprised to see how dry the front nine fairways were compared to the back nine. With all the rain we have had, this is the only course I have played in he DFW area recently that had dry/hard surface fairways. After the turn at hole 9, we went into the concession area which was totally full of the Little League ball players/family members which is next to the course. We waited in line for 10 minutes only to be told they would not have hot dogs ready for 30 minutes. They had one sandwich that our group split up. I understand that the concession area does well with that type of business, from the baseball kids, but I would remind the staff that the concession area is for the golfers. It is unacceptable to not have food for golfers at the turn, and to make the wait longer than it should. The cart girl was not on the course, but was helping the lone person behind the counter for all the extra folks dining. I think this could have been executed a bit better than our experience.
u314160499889, thank you for the awesome rating! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another great experience, and thanks for choosing Irving Golf Club.
Irving golf club
We got paired with the absolute slowest couple. With a combined average of 4 balls going OB every tee shot alone. It was pitiful. The group behind us hit into us 3 times. As slow as the couple with us was playing, it was amazing we were still waiting on the group in front of us every hole. The course was DRY. It was very hard to hit anything around the green as the ground was so hard. Poor watering. The only part of the course that was in good shape were the green, and even then, they were far from great. It’s a very open course if you’re into that, the hole course is only like a half mile so I don’t know what I was really expecting. You have people from other hole in your fairway every other hole. Overall I feel like it would’ve been a better round if I didn’t have to watch 5 horrible tee shots OB every hole, then watch them hit 6 more shots 25 yards before I could hit my second shot. It was frustrating to say the least. At least the beverage cart girl was cute.
First Time Since Redesign
Course In very good shape. Able to play quick as it was a hot Texas summer afternoon. Redo has nice Open fairways In very good condition with good fairway grass. Greens in good shape as well.
Nice Course
Nice layout and condition, great staff, nice practice facility
First Visit
This course would definitely benefit from placing some yardage markers. Without a range finder, it is very difficult to make informed club selections here. The layout is fairly nondescript as there are many straightaways and a lack of water hazards (not a whole lot of character). I found a few of the fairway bunkers to be kind of oddly placed as well. As for the condition of the course, some of the tee boxes were completely burnt out, and the fairways were quite thin and dry. They were very playable, however. The greens were in very decent shape, but it was apparent that they were recovering from a relatively recent aerification. On a very hot Texas day, I would've liked to see a cart girl since it appeared that the water coolers had been removed. The pace of play was excellent, especially once a 4some allowed me to play through. I appreciated the staff's commitment to observing social distancing rules via adequate signage and floor markings in the clubhouse and allowance of single rider carts. All in all, it is worth giving a try if you haven't played here before, especially if you're able to secure an early Hot Deal tee time. Just be aware that this course is nothing more than your run-of-the-mill muni. I did enjoy the forgiving fairways lending themselves to DeChambeau-esque lashes at the ball. I'm sure you will too ha.
Nice layout in great shape.
Our first time playing here but definitely won't be the last. From the condition of the course (tough read on greens) to the pace of play everything was great, w/one exception. The course marshal told us to pick up our pace even though we were a foursome waiting on a threesome?! At that point we were on 13 and actually finished the round a few minutes shy of 4 hours. Regardless, we'll be back!
Worth the drive from anywhere
Course was in excellent shape for July, or any time of the year for that matter. Greens were in more excellent shape than any I've played this year!
Not impressed with the layout. Distance markers either mismarked or nonexistent.
Staff is great, ...the course, not so much.
Nice condition
The course is in good condition but with Covid there is no water on the course and I never saw anyone come around with any.
Hidden Gem
Alot of my buddies have never even heard of this course. It doesn’t appear to get the advertising some of the other courses in the area get but Its in great shape!
We love hearing about our golfers' experiences, schwabra. Please tell us more about what you enjoyed during your round. Thanks for choosing Irving Golf Club!
