Irving Golf Club
About
From the fairways of Irving (formerly known as Twin Wells), you can see the skyline of downtown Dallas–a nice aesthetic for this fun, user-friendly municipal. The course is mostly an open, links-style design, although a few holes that roll along the Trinity River favor a traditional-style on the back nine.
Hole 3 stands out on the front: a 437-yard dogleg left that is protected by fairway bunkers. On the back, No. 11 is the most difficult–another long par 4 at 451 yards.
Getting there : From Hwy. 183 east, take Loop 12 south and exit Shady Grove Rd. Turn left, drive a short distance to the course, look for the clubhouse on the right side of the street.

New Layout
Having just recently moved to the area, I was very pleasantly surprised by the golf course. The guys I got paired up with said the old course was a “goat path.” The new routing just opened in October, so some growing pains are reasonably expected. There are some areas that are still a little rough, but generally speaking the golf course is very playable. It’s a little short, and there are some spots that need to “grow in.” For a muni it’s a good deal and should only get better as it ages.
Very rushed.
From the time we arrived, we were rushed, as if we were an inconvenience. Weren’t able to finish the bucket we got, and were rushed to tee off, before our scheduled time. Definitely, would NOT recommend, to anyone else.
Beautiful Course with perfect untouched new greens
Cant beat the deal to go play this beautiful course, almost done with course renovations . Lots of hills and water to make course interesting. Most of all the greens were in absolute PERFECT shape and played consistently . Some wide fairways to help if you were off. Brand new carts with No GPS. Our nav systems did not have the updated map of the new hole layout on the course. They are currently working on the clubhouse and kitchen area.
Not ready
My first time to play the redesign. It’s a start, but definitely not ready for prime time. I was open minded since it was the soft opening but we were charged full price for a partially finished course. Give it a try next year, but wait to play this course.
It’s Back
I played old Twin Wells the first day it opened and played many rounds there. Today was opening day of the newly laid out Irving Golf Club and our foursome was the first to complete a round. It way better than old TW. Much more lush. Greens are great. Great Management Company. Should just get even better.
Al-Twin Wells
After booking the reservation, when I went to the course i found out it was closing Oct 1st, for the next year + for extensive renovations. The city of Irving is taking it over. Because of this, the the course has not been maintained for the last several weeks/months. Greens were long and unkept. Plowed up dirt in some of the fairways. Sand traps overgrown. Not watered recently. This is why it was such a good deal. Can't say that I blame them, this close to closing it.
This place is a dump
Absolutely like playing in an overgrown field. the whole place is deteriated to the point of rubble. very unfortunate. the toilets on the course so terrifying we just went outside
Fairways and Rough No Transistion
For the price it was worth my time; however, the grass for the 2nd and 3rd cuts were just weeds and the fairways were recently mowed with clippings remaining in the fairway. I had several shots just get lost that on a normal course would have been excellent.
I lost nearly 15 balls on this course over 16 holes and they were well placed shots, but how long can one spending looking for a shot that would be sitting up on a normal course, but was lost in the weeds 2 feet off the fairway?
Unless this place improves I will not return. A $15 round cost me $35 with the lost balls.
I guess there's no sand in the area as the bunkers were ancient.
D Day @Twin Wells
It wah Hot and 3Cars in Parking Lot! I Thought Good! I can Play Fast as IWant: The Lay out was Challenging but I thought to practice and warm up! Wow the ground was so so Dry: well soon after I began my Round and sure enough everything as almost dried up. I got through it but I may Nerer Return.
Refining your game
Great course to work on your game. Tee off at 6:30am, played 18 holes with no pressure from anyone behind to be done by 8:45am. Back 9 is in better shape than the front 9. The bunkers are in terrible shape, basically grass has grown and covered most bunkers.
"Cow pasture" golf, Worst shape ever, don't waste your money
I heard this used to be great in the old days.
What happened?
Ant hills on the green, burnt greens.
Doesn't look like anyone cared/cut this course in the last 2 weeks.
Bunkers has overgrown weeds, not sure it's still a bunker.
Has large picnic are to hold tournament/gathering. Club house large enough, etc. Good location near loop 12, but the course was in horrible, horrible condition.
Not coming back here.
So sad!

Cow pasture golf
I have played on some pretty bad courses but this one takes the cake. Tee boxes not mowed, some were not even marked so you had to guess where to tee off from, fairways had basically potholes scattered about, more weeds than grass on most fairways, ant hills scattered across the fairways and greens, greens burnt and covered with weeds. I lost two balls in the middle of the fairway. Pace of play was great because there were very few golfers on the course so there was not much hold up. I only gave value for the money 2 stars because due to a hot deal and a $10 off coupon i only paid 3 bucks to play. Had I paid 10 bucks or more to play this course i would have demanded my money back. This course needs a lot of work. it has potential just needs a lot of money and care to get it where it needs to be.
It is what it is
The course is in terrible shape. The "sand" traps have very little sand and very large weeds. They are over grown and easy to miss so the fact that they are not taken care of doesn't come into play much. The course is in similar shape. The greens are not well maintained and the course is flooded anytime it rains.
This last outing the front 9 was closed so I played the back 9 twice. I like to play the course when I am low on time or do not want to pay much. Almost everyday they have a $10 round. I would never pay more than that for this course. I have never had an issue with slow play either because nobody is playing here. My record for the full 18 is 1 hour and 55 minutes.
I would not recommend this course for a penny over $10 and keep the expectations low.
Perfect for last minute early golf!
Can't beat the price for a last minute Saturday early morning tee time.
The Worst golf course ever
I quit after nine holes. This was the worst course that i have ever played on. You could not tell the fairways from the rough and greens had not been cut in weeks. The entire course was over run with weeds. The mosquitoes where on a mission. I have bites all over my body. My cart felt like it was going to give out.Its a shame because it looks like it was a nice track in the 90s. Sorry to say but dont waist your money or time.
Poor shape
Course has been let go. Daisies in the fairways, weeds in the "sand", grass growing over the holes, etc... Twin Wells has never been a top notch course, but its really bad right now in a time of the year where it should look shiny and new.
Not good
Must have been flooded last year. Fairways not kept, bunkers bad and filled with weeds, greens bumpy and bare
Very dissapointing
When I started golfing I played this course often, it was never a crown jewel, but it had a hint of a fairway and average greens. I believe this course was closed due to flooding over the last year and half the course was shut down. I booked a tee time to bring another new player to the game and it was quite dreadful. The entire course is grass/weeds. Sunset GC use to be the place to go hack around and every lie was the same regardless of where you landed, but that title now is equally shared by Twin Wells. The course was a ghost town on this particular Saturday. I was expecting to take 4-5 hours as I use to back then, but I finished it well under three hours and could have forgone the last few holes as I could not wait to get out of there. The greens all all dirt for the most part. Bunkers are now gravel like. The city needs to strongly consider either shutting the course down or dropping several million into it to bring me back.
Still flooding damage
Used to play here few years back every couple months. Never fully recovered from flooding. Recent Golf Now for $15 a good deal here. Current condition maybe $25 tops w/cart. Twosome 3 hrs & everybody let us play through. Staff friendly...I'd play again..
Agree!
