Irving Golf Club
About
From the fairways of Irving (formerly known as Twin Wells), you can see the skyline of downtown Dallas–a nice aesthetic for this fun, user-friendly municipal. The course is mostly an open, links-style design, although a few holes that roll along the Trinity River favor a traditional-style on the back nine.
Hole 3 stands out on the front: a 437-yard dogleg left that is protected by fairway bunkers. On the back, No. 11 is the most difficult–another long par 4 at 451 yards.
Getting there : From Hwy. 183 east, take Loop 12 south and exit Shady Grove Rd. Turn left, drive a short distance to the course, look for the clubhouse on the right side of the street.

There are better options
I was not impressed by any aspects of this course or club house. I gave them the benefit of a doubt because of recents rains when rating the course but this course could use some renovations. The fairways were not in ideal condition and some of the greens were bumpy. Even without rains my expectations would not have been met.
There are plenty of nicer courses in Dallas you can get your money's worth on.
Cow Pasture
This course is now run by the City of Dallas, it is in very poor shape. I guess the Dallas budget must be very tight, and they have opted to spend minimal money on Twin Creeks. I played there several years ago, and do not recall the course being in this bad of condition - it has really deteriorated.
Go somewhere else.
Staff was very unfriendly. Course has nice layout but was not maintained.
Not good
Course condition is very low. But staff is excellant. Course layout is interesting. If course condition will change, i m interesting to play more.
You get what you pay for
This is an old course. I wouldn't pay over $20. Not much of a putting green but fun course.
Worst in the Metroplex!
We played this course for the first time on 2/14/15 and were extremely disappointed in the condition of the entire course. My group plays Winter golf all over the Metroplex and we understand Winter course conditions, but this was simply unacceptable. The tee boxes and fairways are not much better than playing in your backyard and the greens were almost just dirt and small rocks. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this course and I definitely would not recommend it.
Wear a kidney belt!
Seriously! My wife and I played all 18 but at the turn my wife said she wished she had worn a kidney belt (like weightlifters and warehouse workers). Unlike some recent reviews of this course complaining of wet fairways, the fairways and greens were very dry and rock-solid. Every fairway was extremely rutted, almost threw our bags of the cart a couple of times. Even high lofted shots did not make an impression on the greens...essentially everything bounced/ran off. Only good thing about the concrete-like conditions was that I made, including the bouncing and rolling, a personal best 327-yd drive.
Twin Wells
Needs work on drainage. Value for the money is ok. I wouldn't call this a must play course.
Lost 4 balls on the fairway due to flooding two days after rain.
Poor drainage lost four balls due to entire fairways having water in many areas. Greens were almost as fast as playing on cement. Over staffed but freindly staff. Rate of play was good for a beautiful Saturday. Only played 9 after getting annoyed with the soaked fairways.
Goat ranch
Poorly managed course. They were allowing groups of 6 golfers to play together. This place is a dump
Slow course
Played a twosome and was put behind a fivesome. Sucked.
Good course with solid greens
Played this course many times over the years and the greens are in excellent condition for this time of year. Fairways are nice and it is worth the price.
Course review
Good challenging holes but very poorly maintained.
Cheap and Challenging
Second time playing and my impression is the same as the first: It's a challenging course that is difficult to score well on. Many holes have visual blocks or elevation changes that make your shot blind and force you to align well and trust your aim. The course suffers from the typical muni problems of upkeep: it's a little tired, the bunkers are usually mud puddles, there are a lot of deep ruts where the irrigation pipes go through the fairway so traversing them can be like a four-wheeler's romp thru the woods. Theres a really bad swampy smell on one hole on the back nine. But overall: pretty decent course and great value.
The course needs a makeover
Needs water bad!! This course used to be in good condition years ago but has gone down hill since the water drought.
Needs work
The course has been neglected due to sparse play. Beautiful views of Dallas, hilly, nice layout. Fairways are very bumpy, cart paths in poor repair. The city is in process of deciding how best to improve it. I hope they are successful. It was a lot of fun, however, and a challenge. Traps have dirt and no sand, which I understand will eventually be taken out.
Poor conditions
Golf course was in terrible shape. Didn't look like it had been mowed in weeks. Ants on the greens.. Yes people, ANT Hills on the green. They should be embarrassed.
Tanner
great course for the money
This isn't the nicest course you will ever play but it is fun at their prices a great value. The staff was very friendly. The course is not pristine but it is fun and has a great skyline view of Dallas from several of the tee boxes. The is some water on the course to watch out for but not an overabundance. Plenty of trees around the course make it feel more wooded and less crowded than other courses. All in all it was a great deal and I will definitely play there again.
Average
This course was about average. Expect your ball to jump as you hit it on the green. Some of the fairways needed work. Bunkers were more dirt than sand
Good course for the money
The course itself was not in great shape. I could not distinguish the fairways from the rough on most of the holes. I had a hard time finding my ball on the first few holes because of the lack of good fairways. The course itself was not too difficult. I am a beginning golfer and I made par on 6 of the 18 holes. I would recommend this course if you are a golf junkie. It has some challenging holes. There are not many trees on the course so it can get very hot playing this course on summer days.
