Rating 71.8

From the fairways of Irving (formerly known as Twin Wells), you can see the skyline of downtown Dallas–a nice aesthetic for this fun, user-friendly municipal. The course is mostly an open, links-style design, although a few holes that roll along the Trinity River favor a traditional-style on the back nine.

Hole 3 stands out on the front: a 437-yard dogleg left that is protected by fairway bunkers. On the back, No. 11 is the most difficult–another long par 4 at 451 yards.

Getting there : From Hwy. 183 east, take Loop 12 south and exit Shady Grove Rd. Turn left, drive a short distance to the course, look for the clubhouse on the right side of the street.

course is in bad shape

Fairways were not taken care of, it was like hitting out of the rough. Greens were in terrible shape. Very disappointed in the conditions of the course. Only the back nine was open and had to play it twice. If the course is in this bad of shape it should have been closed.

An Irving Embarrassment

Thought I was getting a deal at $10. Felt I overpaid by $8.49. Only the back nine was playable-(actually 81/2). Number 15 was moved up to within 95 yards. Trash every where! What a HUGE e3mbarrassment for the City of Irving to display to it's residence and out of town visitors. I hadn't played this course in about 2 years due to it's continued decline but for $10 thought give it another chance. PLEASE, please close this course, drop a minimum of $3 million into it, and make it a part of Irving we can once again be proud to say come play Twin Wells. I will not return until a major renovation takers place. That or turn it into a landfill.

Only the back 9 was open

so I can't speak to the front 9. The course wasn't maintained; greens had vegetation growing on them, sand traps were unplayable. Most of the back 9 you can smell the wastewater treatment plant that is nearby. We paid for 18, and could have played the back 9 twice, but didn't feel like playing the course again.

Run.....

I typically play a different course every week in the metroplex. And I would be willing to go back to any of these, but not this one, not now, not until something is done. There is flood damage. Trash everywhere. They are not taking care of the sand traps, fairways, and little is done to take care of the greens. I used to live in Tanzania, East Africa, and there are places in one fairway that looks like elephants ran through them during the rains leaving huge holes everywhere. Other fairways looked like Tanzania six months into the dry season, nothing but dirt, and dead weeds. Even though I read the many poor reviews before I went, I still thought, hey, it is winter time, it can't be that bad. But, that is what I get for thinking..... If this course was in a third world country, you might be pleased, but I doubt it.... I did give the speed of play five stars, because very few people were out there on a 70 degree day in the middle of February. That says something.... But here, Run...

Poorly Maintained Course

This course has not been maintained at all. The club house looked like something out of the 80s, and the bathroom had old promotional flyers from a year ago on the wall. The front 9 was closed, which we weren't informed of until after we paid. We had to play the back 9 twice because we paid for 18 holes. The course was not only muddy, but it had tree limbs all over the fairway, the greens were bumpy, and there were clovers growing everywhere. This maid it had to find and even play your own ball in the fairway. The owner of this course takes no pride in the property, and I will not be back.

WAIT AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

This course has had a lot of water damage and only the back 9 were open but I was not aware through my booking on Golfnow. The greens have little piles of mud all over and the course is in rough condition. I will probably not go back and play again,

Can't believe it.

Used to play this course a lot in the past. But this time it was just horrible. I'm thinking the city of Irving may be getting ready to sell this off or have it just sit and die? It was built on an old city dump and seemed to be well kept and playable with some real challenges but this last time, it was like a cow patty field that had some flags put here and there.
What a waste, and how sad for Irving.

Bad experience

The course is in horrible condition. Only the back 9 were playable. Front 9 are still under water. The greens were not green. The fairways seem more like the roughs.

Better than reviews

Course has a fantastic view of Dallas off the #1 tee box. Greens don't roll true but not to bad. I have played here several times and they have been trying very hard to get the course back in condition since it flooded this summer.. Staff here is very friendly and nice. Played here for 10 bucks off golf now great bargain seeing how you would pay that much for a large bucket of balls. I will definitely be back.

Hmmm

Found a great deal on golfnow.com that I couldn't pass up. The course flooded earlier in the year and it looks as if it still hasn't fully recovered. Parts if the course needed mowing. The mosquitoes were absolutely horrendous (and huge). Fairways were OK, tee boxes were OK, greens needed more attention. If a little more attention was paid to the course itself (and the mosquito problem), this could be a very enjoyable course to play.

Course is in terrible shape

The fairway is full of cracks from a la k of water and the greens are bumpy as heck because of weeds on the green. This course has really went down hill in the last year. Horrible condition!!

This course and facility has gotten a bad rap

I have not played Twin Wells in the last 6 months due to the dreadful reviews on Golf Now. I decided to see for myself and went back to the course. Overall my experience exceed the previous reviews. The course has always been challenging and the staff extremely friendly. The course has been hurt by the spring rains and the summer drought. When I was there I saw at least 4 staff working on the course to improve it. I say to all the negative reviewers to give this course another chance. For the money, it's a fun day and challenge.

Course greens are BAD

Thought i went in with a good deal with $14 when it usually costs around $30. Course maintenance needs major work - fairways were teared up and cracked, the greens were poorly maintained, needs a major course improvement. Dirt EVERYWHERE. More brown than green in this course. Waste of money, never going back. Don't buy it

Buyer Beware

My wife, son and I played at Twin Wells for the first time this afternoon and we will definitely not be back. I realize that all of the courses in the DFW area experienced flooding this past spring, but that does not account for the huge cracks large enough to swallow golf balls that are present on many of the holes or the extremely poor condition of the cart paths. There were only about 3 greens that were in decent condition. The sand in the bunkers was like concrete. Besides the basic condition of the golf course itself, we were treated to the stench of rancid water, trash, tires, bottles, etc throughout the course and a collection of used feminine products littering the area next to the bridge on the 18th fairway. This was the final straw. For the money that is being charged, it would be better to play where the course is actually taken care of. Do not believe the pictures that are on the website.
