From the fairways of Irving (formerly known as Twin Wells), you can see the skyline of downtown Dallas–a nice aesthetic for this fun, user-friendly municipal. The course is mostly an open, links-style design, although a few holes that roll along the Trinity River favor a traditional-style on the back nine.

Hole 3 stands out on the front: a 437-yard dogleg left that is protected by fairway bunkers. On the back, No. 11 is the most difficult–another long par 4 at 451 yards.

Getting there : From Hwy. 183 east, take Loop 12 south and exit Shady Grove Rd. Turn left, drive a short distance to the course, look for the clubhouse on the right side of the street.

Buyer Beware

My wife, son and I played at Twin Wells for the first time this afternoon and we will definitely not be back. I realize that all of the courses in the DFW area experienced flooding this past spring, but that does not account for the huge cracks large enough to swallow golf balls that are present on many of the holes or the extremely poor condition of the cart paths. There were only about 3 greens that were in decent condition. The sand in the bunkers was like concrete. Besides the basic condition of the golf course itself, we were treated to the stench of rancid water, trash, tires, bottles, etc throughout the course and a collection of used feminine products littering the area next to the bridge on the 18th fairway. This was the final straw. For the money that is being charged, it would be better to play where the course is actually taken care of. Do not believe the pictures that are on the website.

Don't Give Them Your Money

You can't even call this a golf course. Golf courses have fairways that are distinguishable from your average unkept field of dead grass.

Also, despite being flooded back in May, the ground is so hard it couldn't possible have been watered since. The ground is literally split open throughout the course with cracks big enough to swallow a gold ball.

The cart paths are completely destroyed and broken.

If that wanted to film a golf episode (or any episode for that matter) of the walking dead, this would be a prime candidate to shoot it.

Four hour Sat morning round!

Course obviously still recovering from flooding. Greens in great shape. Needed to bump the ball occasionally to get a fair lie in the fairway, but we were OK with that. Played in 4 hours on a Saturday morning!

This course is in awful shape

I do not recommend this course to anybody. Huge cracks all throughout the fairways and rough. Splotchy bermuda greens that were very slow. Course was burnt throughout, not a single stretch of green grass on the layout. The cart path was all torn up making it a very bumpy and terrible riding experience. Do not play this course!

This course is one we will never play again!

The course was the worst I have ever played. There was hardly any grass and it felt like we were playing off rocks on each shot. The cart paths were all torn up with big cracks all throughout the course. I would not recommend this course to anyone who plays or knows what golf is. The price was too much for what the course looked like out there. Not impressed and will not be returning or referring it to anyone else.

DO NOT PLAY

worst course in 62 yrs of playing. Flooded in May rains in Dallas. The place still had traash all over, 100's of plastic bottles, sticks, limbs, beer cans, milk crates and even a pot a john seat laying all over. The so called greens had weeds, didn't even putt many used a wedge and chipped on the greens, couldn't hurt a thing. Even fresh beer cans were on the tees and fairways. A toxic dump would be better to play. I wouldn't even walk my dog ion this course, or tell my 3 ex wives and lawyers to play it. Money for hot deals should be returned and this taken off Golf Now. For the city of Irving TX to keep this open is a total disgrace. The fairways are dirt, rocks, weeks and 6-8" wide open cracks that loose a bunch of balls. A total shame that it is called a golf course.

Skip this course

This course was in unbelievably bad shape. It was a complete waste of $40. On every other hole you were either hitting off dirt in the middle of the fairway, or had to dig through trash to find your ball. I would not recommend this course to a single person. It is a true shame because it has a great view of the skyline of Dallas, but you are better off just looking at the skyline the whole time and skipping the round of golf.

It's real bad!

It is by far the worst course I have played in DFW this year. The front nine was in miserable shape. If I thought they would have refunded me, I would have turned around on the second tee box. You can tell they were flooded earlier this year... Close the front and have people play the back twice until it's fixed! There are cracks in the ground all over where your ball will just fall in, weeds all over the fairways, greens so patchy you couldn't get a true putt... It's just bad! Not worth the $10 hotdeal

Not good

Heard there was some flood damage and that was evident. The spots that were not flood damaged were burnt. Everything was rock hard, fairways and greens. But, it is a good track, some nice holes that are appealing to the eye. Watch out for #18-when you walk up to the tee, make sure to drive around the corner to make sure there is no one out there as it is a blind tee shot (I almost got drilled by a tee shot).

Play time

Course is in poor shape, however the greens hold and putt true. Pace of play is pretty good as there is not a lot of activity and I played 2 balls per hole , took my time and finished in less than 3 hours.

Will probably never play here again

I'm going to preface this review with two comments. 1, I've played here a lot. More than 15 times in the past year to year and a half.
2, I fully understand the weather has decimated some of the golf courses around Dallas. And one like Twin Wells that has a lot of flowing water, the course had to take a severe hit.
That being said, I went into this with low expectations, and the course was below those expectations. I would have been OK with that. But to charge a $40 green fee when the course is almost unplayable is beyond ridiculous. They have lost my business unfortunately

Worse course ever played

It looks like the Texas floods hit this course hard. However, the fringe around the greens was the only freshly mowed area. The greens, fairways, and tee boxes had not been mowed in weeks and the course was really dry. I was surprised to see a course in such horrible shape on a prime golf day(Saturday) and a holiday. I would be embarrassed to let people play the course in that condition.

save your money!

The front 9 is closed. Played the back 9 twice. The course is in TERRIBLE shape. It's a goat track, probably the worst course I've ever been on. The rough hasn't been mowed in ages, more than ankle deep, the old grass just sitting around is turning brown. Forget about trying to find your ball if you don't hit the fairway, just hit a provisional. The greens are terrible - weeds, brown spots & dirt, and bumpy as all get out - just aim for the pin & pray. NO SAND in the bunkers, just dirt and weeds growing inside them. The bugs are terrible, bring bug spray & apply often. Several of the holes smelled like an open sewer. Cobwebs in the toilet in the ladies bathroom on the course - I don't think they have cleaned it in the last year. First and last time playing this course. I can't see it staying open much longer without a major overhaul & cash infusion.

why?

Why have they let this course deteriorate into a cow pasture? None of the other "city" courses are this bad? Weeds everywhere.....hit it down the middle and find your ball in a patch of dirt or big clump of weeds..really?

Needs a lot of attention.

The course was filled with weeds and high grass. Even finding your ball on the forest was difficult because of the weeds. This course needs major attention if they have any kind of a future. It's been majorly neglected!

No mower???

I have played this course several times in the past 5 years. It is usually in good shape and fun to play. With the great rains lately it should have been in great shape. They apparently lost their lawn mower. The fairways were high and the greens were hard. Will not go back until I know they are back to where they used to be.

Hmmmmm

This is probably the worst course I have ever played. The rough looks like a cow pasture that was left alone for 6 months. The greens were fair along with the tee boxes. The bunkers reminded me of trenches from WW1. The pace of play was really slow. Oh and watch out for the sun, it is out of control. As a tip, if you are on the back nine, let it rip. No one will no if it was you that smells or the stagnant water that surrounds the course. The smell is breath taking.

Course Needs Turf Management !!!

Greens are hard and dry. Numerous weeds of different varieties in the fairways. Rough areas way overgrown with a ton of weeds.
I expect to have some challenge when playing out of the rough, but this is ridiculous!!! Probably lost half a dozen balls in completely overgrown clover 3 to 4 feet off the fairway.
I have played this course numerous times in the last 4 years and this is by far the worst I have ever seen it!!!
Please break out the mowers and weed killer !!!

There are better options

I was not impressed by any aspects of this course or club house. I gave them the benefit of a doubt because of recents rains when rating the course but this course could use some renovations. The fairways were not in ideal condition and some of the greens were bumpy. Even without rains my expectations would not have been met.

There are plenty of nicer courses in Dallas you can get your money's worth on.

Cow Pasture

This course is now run by the City of Dallas, it is in very poor shape. I guess the Dallas budget must be very tight, and they have opted to spend minimal money on Twin Creeks. I played there several years ago, and do not recall the course being in this bad of condition - it has really deteriorated.
