Another Solid Kentucky State Course
First off, the staff here was extremely friendly and out going. The course itself was in good shape despite the dry and hot second half of the summer they were having. As far as the layout, a fairly flat, moderately challenging woodlands type track. An overall excellent value and would absolutely play here again if in the area.
My Favorite Course
Hidden Cove more like hidden gem!! I loved this course it is very beautiful during the spring and summer and fun to play. I always have a good time with friends when coming out here and the staff are always so kind as well. Brian is great and very knowledgeable!! I highly recommend this course to all golfers!!
1st trip for '23
Course in good shape. Can't wait until dormant turf comes in. Will only make it better. Recently aerated greens recovering very well l. Minimal effect on putting. Ready to tackle it again.
Awesome Golf in Easter Kentuck at the State Parks
There are two Kentucky State Park Golf Courses on the east side of the state that would make for a terrific weekend golf getaway for guys, gals, or couples. Eagle Ridge at Yatesville Lake State Park and Hidden Cove Golf Course at Grayson Lake State Park will provide two exciting rounds of golf for just about anyone who plays them.
My advice is to play your first round at Hidden Cove. It’s located in Olive Hill, KY, and has won numerous awards over the year including a rating of #4 Best New Affordable Public Courses by Golf Digest in 2004 and a 6th place in KY ranking by the same magazine in 2006. The course offers some good elevation changes and generous Bermuda grass fairways. The Bentgrass greens are incredible and are surrounded by challenging bunkers.
Number 8 is the course’s #1 handicap hole. It’s a 394-yard par 4 that plays nearly completely uphill. A good drive will still leave a long approach shot into a small, well-undulated green with very little trouble around it. A par on this hole is something to be celebrated!
The Lodge at Greenbo Lake State Resort Park in Greenup, KY is a great place to bed down for a couple of nights. The Jesse Stuart Lodge has comfortable rooms at a reasonable rate and the Angler’s Cove restaurant has good food as well.
Both of these courses are currently undergoing bunker renovations and are in the process of switching over to “Better Billy Bunker,” the best-draining bunker system in the golf industry. It may take a while for the installation to be complete but it’s well worth the wait.
For golfers that plan on playing multiple rounds of golf over the year at the Kentucky State Parks, you may want to consider purchasing a Trail Card which gives you access to many courses across the state within the Nation’s Finest Park System. A lot of these courses have been recognized nationally by Golf Digest. The Trail Card can be purchased at any of the Kentucky State Park courses.

Top 10 Kentucky Public Course
One of the best Kentucky public courses. Course has many signature holes that play over undulating terrain.
Must play if in Kentucky and fan of their state parks.
Great for all levels of play!
Four sets of tees will give you whatever level of challenge you’re after. The bunkering makes you think your way around, but the fairways are accommodating if you plan well.
Plush Fairways
Overall Course Is Excellent.. Most Holes Are Fair. Course Is To Long For Seniors. 5900 Is To Long For Over 75 Year Old Seniors. We Still Enjoyed Our Day On
The Course.
We Will Be Back.
Challenging but fair course
Beautiful layout, generous landing areas, large greens. Course was in excellent condition. Staff is very friendly., good carts, and a nice clubhouse. Fun course, has elevation changes, some really pretty views and overall a really enjoyable round.
I like the driving range but they never have enough balls to get a full bucket and still charge full price or they have you pick your own balls up this needs attention
Bad experience
Course was in horrible shape and they will try to squeeze every penny out of you they can
Still working
They arr still getting the bunkers fixed but I can tell that they have been putting the effort in.. great layout... and always in good condition.
Great course
This was the second time paying the course in 2 years the fairway was nice and firm. They are working on the sand bunkers will be real nice to hit of this fall probably got 40% of them filled with new sand .
Singular round
This course was tough, innovative, and a ton of fun to play. The bunkers are outlined but no sand in them, disappointing to be sure. If that is remedied I would give it five stars for sure. For campers at the state park it is ideal, and the staff was very accommodating
To any senior golfer reading this, don’t use GolfNow on M-Th. for this course. They offer a senior price equal to the GolfNow one without all the “convenience fees.”
