Pearland Golf Club
About
Pearland Golf Club opened in 1982 after Jay Riviere was brought in to build the course as the centerpiece of a residential development for senior citizens. Mike Hoelzer rolled through in the late 1990s for a redesign on this fairly basic 18-hole golf course. The short design features generous fairways and prominent bunkering around the undulating greens. Lakes and ponds have been added over the years and impact play on most holes. Trees have also been added over the years to spice up the flat, prairie-like course.
No. 9 is one of the toughest holes, a 440-yard par 4 that doglegs and has water. No. 16 is considered Pearland's signature -- a 554-yard par 5 that also doglegs and has water in play.

Convenient golf course
The course is so convenient to home and work. Nice to get in a quick game of golf.
Pearland
Good course with 2 very different 9's. Front nine is short but tight. Back 9 a bit more open but longer. Greens very firm and not receptive so careful not to over club
Great course
The course is in great shape. Wouldn't mind playing it again.
fast greens
the course was in very good condition and the greens were nice and fast. Balls hit outside of the fairway are a challenge to get back in play due to the cut and type of grass.
Nice old style course
We enjoyed the old style course. There were some surprises along the way... Water not visible from each the tee... But overall, nice track and friendly staff.
Great course
The course is challenging & in great shape. It's a short course but I'd play & recommend this course to anyone.
Very Nice
Pleasantly surprised! Course is in great shape and greens are fast. Tee boxes are well maintained even for the women. On a hot summer day, they absolutely need a beverage cart. The turn does not go by the club house unless you detour.
Challenging
The course may be short in yardage but all the challenges more than make up for that. Great eye appeal as well
Perfect day
Great course, well kept, friendly staff.
slow play
The pace of play was slow. I will play here again but I will not play here on a Saturday morning.
Much improved
Played this course prior to renovations and was very disappointed. Decided to give it a shot after they redid the course (sp. green complexes) and was pleasantly surprised. Greens are now playable, albeit quite hard (as are nearly all new greens), but reasonably quick. It is difficult to score below par since even spun wedges have a good hop on the firm greens, and while they are quick they are not mown perfectly smooth and have some inconsistency. The fairways are very nice, you can take good divots even in the hot dry summer. Rough is very sticky but not too thick. Course layout is reasonably interesting with some good variation and forced layups. Only complaint is the tree next to the 13th tee box needs to be trimmed, it blocks the entire fairway from view from the back tees (have to hit 40yd slice drive).
Staff inside is pleasant and accommodating. Weekday afternoon round took 2:15.
I had no intention of playing this course again until they redid everything, but now I will be back for $20 weekday or $30 weekend round.
Still not the nicest course in the area, but I will be back for a casual round.
Good Condition and Challenging
Only complaint is the lack of food/beverage and beverage cart service. Course is solid
Pearland G C
Nice layout. Greens were in great shape. Some of the fastest I've ever played on a public course. Headed back this week with some of my buds for round two.
Kojma
Nice course. In good shape and very playable. I will play there again.
Firm Greens
Played this course 3 times since they re- opened both 9s. It is in great shape. The tee boxes are flat and the fairways are tight with houses on either side. Rough can sometimes border on excessive. The greens are in good shape but they are still not receptive to well placed shots. Your only shot at scoring decently is to have short approach shots that launch high and land softly. Greens are fast and smooth. Bunkers are hit or miss, some have plenty of soft sand but some are packed a little tighter and your club bottoms out and causes you to hit a low shot with no spin. Overall a decent track that forces you to hit good tee shots and work the ball either way.
Great Course. Great Value
Best course for the money.
Surprisingly strong
I had a very good experience at Pearland Golf Club - much better than I expected. From the road, it kind of looks like a beat-up old golf course, but it's in nice shape - indeed, it's in significantly better condition than Southwyck GC a few miles away, which seems like it should be a much nicer course. My only complaint with course conditions is that most of the bunkers felt a little shallow, and some of them are in places where hitting it thin out of the bunker can really cost you.
The layout is a more old school golf course - it's fairly tight, lots of trees. I hit some drivers off the tee, but there are a lot of holes that prioritize tee shot placement over distance. It's the kind of course that makes you think some without beating you up too bad. I played late on a Friday afternoon, and it was pretty much empty at the time, so I was able to get in all 18 holes in about 2:15.
Gruff GM
First time I've played here under the new management. I was considering joining so I figured I'd try a Friday afternoon round. Shortly after my round started we had to go in because of rain and lightening. Once back in the clubhouse the Manger politely gave the father daughter twosome in the front of mea full rain check and gAve me less than half credit.
Needless I won't be back...
