Pearland Golf Club
About
Pearland Golf Club opened in 1982 after Jay Riviere was brought in to build the course as the centerpiece of a residential development for senior citizens. Mike Hoelzer rolled through in the late 1990s for a redesign on this fairly basic 18-hole golf course. The short design features generous fairways and prominent bunkering around the undulating greens. Lakes and ponds have been added over the years and impact play on most holes. Trees have also been added over the years to spice up the flat, prairie-like course.
No. 9 is one of the toughest holes, a 440-yard par 4 that doglegs and has water. No. 16 is considered Pearland's signature -- a 554-yard par 5 that also doglegs and has water in play.

Golf Course
Played this couse about two years was not good. The course has been redone and now it is great.
Jeffrey Blume Renovation
I like the renovations by Jeffrey Blume! New bunkers that add more complexity to your decisions by framing the green visually but are actually 30-50 yards short of the green complex. Greens are now larger with fantastic interior slopes and are surrounding by huge areas of first cut rough.
The course has always been tight as it winds through the neighborhood, there are many holes which require strategy over brute distance. I'm looking forward to many more rounds on this course.
NEW and IMPROVED...Unbelievable!!!
Forget what you use to think about this course....They sank some money into this course. Fairways and greens are nice and new! No more bumpy rides and large crevices in the fairways. Sand is good and bunkers added. Greens have undulation and putt real fast and smooth. This is a PLAYERS Course...pick your shots...not a bangers course. Five sets of brand new tee boxes. Brand new electric carts with GPS. If you don't manage your tee shots, you will be in tree lines or OB. If you find yourself on the wrong side of the Greens, it will take more than 2 putts. Number 18 is longer now and has a slightly elevated green; nice finishing hole to challenge your golf score :)
Really have to think about your golf here...the value of the homes may just have gone up!
WOW JUST WOW
HAD PLAYED SEVERAL ROUNDS HERE OVER THE LAST 5 YEARS AND THEN STOPPED BECAUSE THE LAYOUT AND CONDITIONS JUST PLAIN SUCKED.
AFTER TODAY JUST BLOWN AWAY, GOLF COURSE IS UN RECOGNIZABLE. BEAUTIFUL NEW DESIGN, CANT EVEN RECOGNIZE IT, GREENS ARE PERFECT MOST OF THEM ELEVATED LOTS OF UNDULATIONS AND QUICK. THE FRONT 9 IS ABSOLUTLEY PERFECT THE BAC NINE WILL BE THERE SOON.
GREAT JOB COUNTRY PLACE/PERLAND GOLF CLUB.
WILL BE BACK SOON AND OFTEN, IM CALLING MY BUDDIES NOW TO TEKM THEM HOW AWESOME IT WAS.
Nice course with nice additions
I played this course a few days ago because I wanted to see how the back 9 renovations turned out. I always have difficulty on the front nine...and that day was no different. I hit a 48 on the front 9. Greens are fairly hard and run really fast. The back 9 was refreshing. There is more water present and I hit it a few times. The greens actually play really nice. The only problem is that the back nine is cart path only. Also, they have another upgrade...they have GPS navigation on the new golf carts. The distance is still a little off, but I like it. All this for a $10 round on GolfNow!!!!
course is okay, nothing special
played on a golfnow special for $14, thus a great value. regular rate was $40 which would have been too much for me for this course. back nine was cart paths only, possibly due to recently completed renovations, so it slowed me down while often having to walk back and forth across some wide fairways. might wait until back nine allows carts for me to play again. greens were in pretty good shape - about medium speed.. fairways were fine, although some bare spots. patches of new grass on back nine, will be fine when it grows in. its hard to see a bunch of the water hazards. considering light sprinkles during parts of my round, I enjoyed the day and the round.
9 hole only
Only played front nine which was in decent shape. Back nine is out for maintenance. Good deal for the 10.00 hot deal
way to expensive for course
Overall the greens were good for a public course. However, I booked the course and was not made aware that the course was under going a remodel and that we would have to play the front 9 twice. For the price they charged, that was a huge let down. The front desk lady was not a friendly person either. The front 9 has already been "remodeled" but I couldn't not tell. They must have put all the money into the greens. I would call the course and make sure the remodel is complete before attempting this course. Very dissapointed overall.
Other 9 opens Oct 24th
Only the front nine is open until October 24. Front nine is new and so everything is still hard, especially the greens. You need to play a link style shot and land the ball short to keep it on the green. You will get a lot more run out of the fairways. Conditions overall we're good. Greens are lightning fast. Overall a good track.
GREAT lil secret
I apologize for the late review, Pearland Country Place is a GREAT lil spot, only front nine is open so you play twice for 18, staff was very friendly and playing conditions were great, you will feel welcome by the staff and patrons here. The regulars and neighbors are of the elder BUT they play at a good pace. I hope to see the back nine open soon, THANKS
this is a very likeable course
Although this is course is going thru some upgrades, it is very much playable (front 9). The front 9 is completed and it is a matter of time before it ages to be a first class course. I like the doglegs, bunkers and water challenges. All of the greens are huge and fast, very fast. I've played some PGA courses and these greens are very comparable in speed and hole placement. This is a neighborhood course, so keep hitting them straight and avoid the surrounding homes.
Course under construction
Golf Now didn't state that course was under construction. You have to play the front nine twice. I liked the course.
Hardest greens on earth!
The greens can't hold a nice approach shot under any circumstances! Only 9 holes open & the back 9 looked a long way from being ready. Short dog legs on all non-par 3's. Course conditions otherwise were good. The hard greens require you to land short where possible & hope you don't go rolling off the back, as when you chip back up, you're likely to end up in the front sand bunkers, and then it starts over!
Old style, short, retirement community course
If you have high expectations of a championship style course you will be very disappointed. But if you are looking for a quick, easy, inexpensive, decent course you have found it. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful - the entire community is very friendly (my parents live here). The course has been undergoing major renovations for over a year now - should have a redone 18 later this year. The course will always play short and narrow as it is bounded by houses on both sides of fairways throughout. The old fairways and greens were pretty bad and bumpy, but the renovations have really improved things. It is good for a quick getaway to practice or get ready for a more challenging round elsewhere. You will hit mostly 3-wood and wedge in your round
Don't waste your time
The only thing this place has going for it is that the staff appear to be friendly. The course is in need of a complete, total overhaul - significantly more than what they are doing. Only front 9 open which makes it play at just over 6400 yards. Will never pay to play this course again. In fact, won't play it if it was free.
Disappointed!!!
The course was nice but upon arrival we were told the back nine was under construction. Had I been aware of the condition of the course, I would have played somewhere else. Ended up playing the front nine twice. Felt deceived, but oh well. Just check with the progress of the back nine before booking a tee time.
Only Front 9 Open, But...
Only the front 9 is open (back 9 opens in September), but the upgrades they did on the front make this a very nice course. Bunkers were well cut & maintained and the greens were excellent. It's gonna be a great 18 this fall!
Great course
Course was very nice, front 9 just underwent a major reno. Back 9 is closed and I was told they hope to open the back 9 in late-September. This course will be a real gem once completed. Have to play the front 9 twice currently.
Pleasant surprise
I booked my tee time about 2 hours prior. The course was in very good condition. Fairways were clean and free of debris and the greens were smooth and fast.
Just a FYI the back 9 are currently under construction, but even with half the course unavailable the pace of play was good.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised especially for the Hot Deal price I paid! I will definitely be returning and recommending this course to my friends.
