Pearland Golf Club
About
Pearland Golf Club opened in 1982 after Jay Riviere was brought in to build the course as the centerpiece of a residential development for senior citizens. Mike Hoelzer rolled through in the late 1990s for a redesign on this fairly basic 18-hole golf course. The short design features generous fairways and prominent bunkering around the undulating greens. Lakes and ponds have been added over the years and impact play on most holes. Trees have also been added over the years to spice up the flat, prairie-like course.
No. 9 is one of the toughest holes, a 440-yard par 4 that doglegs and has water. No. 16 is considered Pearland's signature -- a 554-yard par 5 that also doglegs and has water in play.

way to expensive for course
Overall the greens were good for a public course. However, I booked the course and was not made aware that the course was under going a remodel and that we would have to play the front 9 twice. For the price they charged, that was a huge let down. The front desk lady was not a friendly person either. The front 9 has already been "remodeled" but I couldn't not tell. They must have put all the money into the greens. I would call the course and make sure the remodel is complete before attempting this course. Very dissapointed overall.
Other 9 opens Oct 24th
Only the front nine is open until October 24. Front nine is new and so everything is still hard, especially the greens. You need to play a link style shot and land the ball short to keep it on the green. You will get a lot more run out of the fairways. Conditions overall we're good. Greens are lightning fast. Overall a good track.
GREAT lil secret
I apologize for the late review, Pearland Country Place is a GREAT lil spot, only front nine is open so you play twice for 18, staff was very friendly and playing conditions were great, you will feel welcome by the staff and patrons here. The regulars and neighbors are of the elder BUT they play at a good pace. I hope to see the back nine open soon, THANKS
this is a very likeable course
Although this is course is going thru some upgrades, it is very much playable (front 9). The front 9 is completed and it is a matter of time before it ages to be a first class course. I like the doglegs, bunkers and water challenges. All of the greens are huge and fast, very fast. I've played some PGA courses and these greens are very comparable in speed and hole placement. This is a neighborhood course, so keep hitting them straight and avoid the surrounding homes.
Course under construction
Golf Now didn't state that course was under construction. You have to play the front nine twice. I liked the course.
Hardest greens on earth!
The greens can't hold a nice approach shot under any circumstances! Only 9 holes open & the back 9 looked a long way from being ready. Short dog legs on all non-par 3's. Course conditions otherwise were good. The hard greens require you to land short where possible & hope you don't go rolling off the back, as when you chip back up, you're likely to end up in the front sand bunkers, and then it starts over!
Old style, short, retirement community course
If you have high expectations of a championship style course you will be very disappointed. But if you are looking for a quick, easy, inexpensive, decent course you have found it. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful - the entire community is very friendly (my parents live here). The course has been undergoing major renovations for over a year now - should have a redone 18 later this year. The course will always play short and narrow as it is bounded by houses on both sides of fairways throughout. The old fairways and greens were pretty bad and bumpy, but the renovations have really improved things. It is good for a quick getaway to practice or get ready for a more challenging round elsewhere. You will hit mostly 3-wood and wedge in your round
Don't waste your time
The only thing this place has going for it is that the staff appear to be friendly. The course is in need of a complete, total overhaul - significantly more than what they are doing. Only front 9 open which makes it play at just over 6400 yards. Will never pay to play this course again. In fact, won't play it if it was free.
Disappointed!!!
The course was nice but upon arrival we were told the back nine was under construction. Had I been aware of the condition of the course, I would have played somewhere else. Ended up playing the front nine twice. Felt deceived, but oh well. Just check with the progress of the back nine before booking a tee time.
Only Front 9 Open, But...
Only the front 9 is open (back 9 opens in September), but the upgrades they did on the front make this a very nice course. Bunkers were well cut & maintained and the greens were excellent. It's gonna be a great 18 this fall!
Great course
Course was very nice, front 9 just underwent a major reno. Back 9 is closed and I was told they hope to open the back 9 in late-September. This course will be a real gem once completed. Have to play the front 9 twice currently.
Pleasant surprise
I booked my tee time about 2 hours prior. The course was in very good condition. Fairways were clean and free of debris and the greens were smooth and fast.
Just a FYI the back 9 are currently under construction, but even with half the course unavailable the pace of play was good.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised especially for the Hot Deal price I paid! I will definitely be returning and recommending this course to my friends.
Country Place
*** Back 9 renovations ***
Their website states back 9 under construction and will play front 9 twice. The staff was courteous in telling me that before play. Front 9 was well kept and maintained. I had a hard time the first round due to not having a course description on score card. Lots of water hazard in play. Had a great time and will come back again.
Lady Wee
Beautiful course however it was only the front 9 holes open during the renovation. Water along the course tastes good and cool. Lemon water was served in the club house, tastes even better after the round. Kind neighbors too.
Back 9 closed
Back 9 is closed for renovations. Pace of play was extremely slow. Could only finish 9 holes. Looks like it will be really nice once the renovations are finished. Will play again then.
Nice if you don't mind the renovations
I played two rounds here over the past few weeks, and both times I played the front nine twice as the back nine is out of the question due to renovations. I will say that there is a lack of anything to tell you about each hole, hopefully that will be fixed once they have everything back up and running in September. Friendly staff, a price you can't beat, and very few people on the course made this a great place to play. Some of the downsides are that you have to repeat the front nine twice to play 18 and that there are a few areas where the course is a little beat up with cheap sod in place (although those places will not be in play for most golfers).
Back 9 closed down
This course is fine but the I did not know until I had paid (LastMinute Golf) and got tot he course that the back nine was not open.
This course is challenging
Greens are hard and well protected, with plenty of sand, water and OB.
