Pearland Golf Club
About
Pearland Golf Club opened in 1982 after Jay Riviere was brought in to build the course as the centerpiece of a residential development for senior citizens. Mike Hoelzer rolled through in the late 1990s for a redesign on this fairly basic 18-hole golf course. The short design features generous fairways and prominent bunkering around the undulating greens. Lakes and ponds have been added over the years and impact play on most holes. Trees have also been added over the years to spice up the flat, prairie-like course.
No. 9 is one of the toughest holes, a 440-yard par 4 that doglegs and has water. No. 16 is considered Pearland's signature -- a 554-yard par 5 that also doglegs and has water in play.

Got a great deal on GolfNow for this course under construction
Pros:
- $10 green and cart fee on GolfNow
- challenging course
- fairways and tee boxes in good shape
- cheap range balls - $5 a bag (equal to a s/m bucket
Cons:
- holes 1-9 are under construction. You have to replay 10-18
- greens were dry and very fast
- bumpiest nine holes in Houston: cart path, fairway, rough could cause serious whiplash
Bottom line: no way is pay the normal green/cart fees and very unlikely I would pay more than the $10 I got on GolfNow to play there.
FYI: The planned completion for renovation is October.
beware pearland gc
My husband and I have played this course many times in the past, however this was our first time playing this year. The attendant was VERY rude and informed us AFTER we paid that the front nine was under construction and we would be playing the back TWICE. There was another staff member that was pretty polite, but everytime she spoke the "rude" guy would interupt her. Nevertheless, we ended the round early( I think we were the only golfers on the course) and will most likely NOT book again....
fun day
even though we only played the same 9 holes twice we had a really fun time. The course is challenging and narrow. The greens are decent.
Greens in good shape relative to last year
Had to play 9 holes twice due to renovations. They are putting $2M into the course. I expect when that is done it will be very nice. For now, it is in good shape in the fairways. The greens are in pretty good shape. They used to have a lot of weeds in the green, but those are much much less and not a factor. I look forward to the new course revovations when complete. I did not mind playing two nines as it was a good price.
Under Renovation, but still a good course
As the title says, the course is under renovation so one through nine are out of play right now. I played 10 through 18 twice and had a very good time of it.
Great Play for the Price
The front nine is under construction so you will have to play the back nine twice. The course is in pretty good condition and greens are in great shape. I played during the day on a Friday and there were not a whole lot of other golfers out there. Paired up with another young guy and played a fun round. Overall it was enjoyable, just wish all 18 were open.
NOT INFORMED ABOUT ONLY 9 HOLES AVAILABLE
Very disappointed that neither GOLF NOW or PRO SHOP informed me that the front 9 was completely dug up and under reconstruction.
Worst course on the south end
This place is horrible!!!! The fairways are horrible and ridiculously bumpy. Watched my ball get crazy kicks from supposedly level lies. THe worst part ar the greens!!! Several are completely unplayable and the rest are in horrible condition!! I paid $15 and had low expectations but I still felt completely ripped off!!! Avoid this place like the plague!!!!!!
green fees tooooo much
Green fees too high for the course condition fairways in horrible shape ......most greens in horrible shape ....they oversell it all the time takes way to long to play .... go to clear creek or southwyck lot better courses and less fees .....cant believe they want 30 to 40 dollars to play this course ....10 maybe 15....20 at the most geesh
First time playing...
The fairways were spotty with grass and mud. The greens were horrid. Diseased grass or spotty weeds all over. One green I hit a stiff 9I to the green, ball hit the middle of the green and ran off 10 yards from the green. When I reached the green I saw why...there was no grass! All sand, dirt and mud. Just to get out and play the course was alright. Once you hit the green just mark a two putt and move onto the next hole. Next time I'm in the Houston area I won't be playing here again unless I hear some dramatic changes to the course conditions. Even at that...I know of many other courses I could play for the same price with much better course maintenance!
closing thought
they are going to redo the course and are closing the front 9.
Terrible starter
I was harrassed about the validity of my golfnow purchase of the round. His conduct was very unprofessional in an activity played by gentlemen.
Depends on your mood
The club was in rough condition, but for the price not bad. The green on hole 5 is in really bad condition, it has dry dirt omit with cracks. And almost every tee box need to have work, a lot of slopes on tee boxes.
Not bad for the money
The pace is great. The greens need some work. Overall great time.
Great value, look forward to the renovations
This is a nice layout. It is the best deal around. The greens need help and the fairways are bumpy. It is definitely a good place to practice and save money.
Good Time
Country Place appears to have lots of play. Overall course in Good Shape. Only one Green that needs some additional TLC. Course is well marked, design is good, flows through the subdivision. Carts were clean and charged. Proshop staff very friendly and helpful.
Improving
New management is making investment into course. Big changes coming I hear. Great value and great people. Course will get better, a few bad spots but not horrible
Some nice water features on course and concrete paths
Greens need work but course fun to play in General .great value using golf now site.played here cheaper than the price of just a cart rental at home.
First visit...no more visits.
Extremely poor greens. Cart paths are an issue for players back. Bunkers are well kept.
good gc
Overall a good course for the money
