Pearland Golf Club
About
Pearland Golf Club opened in 1982 after Jay Riviere was brought in to build the course as the centerpiece of a residential development for senior citizens. Mike Hoelzer rolled through in the late 1990s for a redesign on this fairly basic 18-hole golf course. The short design features generous fairways and prominent bunkering around the undulating greens. Lakes and ponds have been added over the years and impact play on most holes. Trees have also been added over the years to spice up the flat, prairie-like course.
No. 9 is one of the toughest holes, a 440-yard par 4 that doglegs and has water. No. 16 is considered Pearland's signature -- a 554-yard par 5 that also doglegs and has water in play.

on the way up
Clearly new manager has master plan for improvemennts to the course. Deserve member and public support to make it happen in a climate where courses seem to be heading the other way.
A great "Players Course" that is a true value.
The course is not particularly long, but a great "Players Course" that is super cheap on the weekdays, and fairly inexpensive on the weekends as well. The greens were a little dry on my recent visit and the fairways were a little on the bumpy side.
Greens are the worst!
Greens are important to me. These greens are the worst I've played on in quite awhile.
Amenities: Average clubhouse...nothing special, but not bad.
Price: Very good twilight rate ($15), but certainly not worth the weekend $45 full price.
Playability: Tough course if you spray it off the tee. This course puts a premium on accuracy. Not a lot of forced carries or anything like that, though.
Conditions: Here is where it gets bad. The fairways were decent and the tee boxes were okay, but very hard. The greens, though, were horrible. Dead grass prevails on pretty much EVERY green and a LOT of them had large patches of dirt...just plain dirt. I went so far as to ask after my round if the greenskeeper had quit and hadn't been replaced. It was just plain sad.
Overall: Despite the cheap twilight rates, I won't be coming back anytime soon. I just can't see paying good money to play a course with greens like this again.
Course is challenging for beginners, like me
This is a nice place to play and expeience the game of golf. One of my favorite courses to play in the Houston area. Could use some work on the greens and some areas of the fairways.
Greens are in rough shape.
The greens, which were actually brown, were in rough shape and thus made them super fast. Other than that, getting the free hot dog and draft beer was nice, the pace of play was awesome, and the rate given on golfnow.com was very good.
Good sand in bunkers...Fastest greens in town but have cancer
Putting on the greens is what make this course fun.
Not sure if the lack of grass in the fairways is by design, but could be improved.
The customer service of the clubhouse staff makes up for whats lacking on the course.
Fun course
Greens need some work but overall this is a fun course to play and well worth the price.
Very challenging course, lots and lots of water hazards, hidden water, take your Sky Caddie, lol.
On the down side, the fairways are very bumpy and will jostle you out of your seat. The greens OMG, super slick, super fast, super dry, super burnt (call the fire dept), good lord but some fertilizer on those greens please!! Tee boxes are far better than the greens.
Good Value for the money!!
I played the course on Saturday morning and the fairways were bumpy and firm thus creating a knockdown type of shot as the go to shot of preference. The greens were really fast and they should be called browns instead of greens!!
Interesting holes. Water on the sides of many holes. Very little cross fairway water. Many sand traps.
I play this course often and find that it presents a good level of challenge for me.
course is getting better
The fairways are real bumpy, the greens need some work in certain spots, but the overall condition and playing areas are in good shape. Give it some time & this will be a great course in Pearland.
Decent course
Decent course for the value, but the carts are extremely old and always run out of battery during the round!! Very frustrating!
Great value. Not as easy as it appears.
Friendly staff & affordable rates make CP a great place to try if you've never played here. The holes don't appear difficult, but if your tee shots are not straight, you may not score well. The fairways are bumpy so 90 degrees is a good idea. Great value. Go play!
Very Friendly Staff
The Greens at Country Place in Pearland were very dry and bumpy. several greens had bare spots with sand all over them, almost impossible to putt on them. The Fairways were very bumpy, and very dry, hard to take a divot. Tee boxes were very dry but had grass on them. Staff is very friendly, and its a fun layout, lots of water on the course. Good value on the weekday twilight.
Very open doing the midweek , nice challenging dog legged holes.
What a deal, great course ! Very challenging ,narrow fairways , long par 5's with character. I wanna play again.
The course is challenging, but not overwhelming. Its the kind where you would want to play 36 holes in 1 day.
It was a rainy day when I played, but the course was in decent condition. The fairways need work as they were bumpy from 1 thru 18. The greens were in good condition and were pretty fast. I enjoyed the course and looking forward to the next time I play.
Easy, open course, friendly staff.
The course was in ok shape, but the staff was friendly and the pace of play was good.
This course is about value
Country Place is a little rough around the edges, but is a good course none the less...especially the back nine. The fairways are the bumpiest in town, not sure why...careful w/ that beer!
Presently, the greens are dead but fast & somewhat true. For what I paid in green fee & proximity to Houston area, this course is a solid 3 out of 5.
Great Bang for your Buck
Overall the course needs some attention but for the cost and also getting a hotdog and bottle of water with the green fees you can't beat it. I look forward to coming back again soon
Great price but course needs work!!!
I had seen the reviews on this course at almost a 4 star rating, however when I went there, greens were brown and looked dead with bare spots, fairays needed mowing, bunker needing sprucing up. In all fairness, it had rained for several days ( Mon/Tue/Wed) and I went on a Friday. Cart path only, but I could not find a reason for not having fairways mowed. I walked and conditions were not such that mowing could not be done (there were no puddles in the fairways). I went back and played Sunday (coupon with lunch). Condition on course did not improve and they had run out of Hot Dogs!! The free lunch!!! On the bright side, I was treated to a very nice Taco Buffet which made the whole experience for $25 very nice.
