One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

New Favorite
My husband and I love this course. It's our new favorite. Course is great shape. Greens are fast. Staff is friendly. People we have been paired with are fun. Only suggestion is please upgrade the restrooms on the course.

Really nice municipal course in Plano
We really enjoyed the course. It has a great layout and wide open fairways but also some challenging fairway bunkers. Fairways and T-box areas were in good conditions. Greens were a bit challenging for sure. Nice value as well and staff friendly
Excellent Public Run Course
Great for the price and being a public course. Carts are all right, some have broken speakers, there could be more food options at the turn.
Fairways and greens are at good enough for me to learn on. Driving range fills up fast.

Great layout and conditions. The course is challenging and it is in great condition, even in this Texas heat.
Feel Good About Your Game
Lovely course. Mature trees. Wide fairways. Greens in great shape. Driving range and frequent on course cart service. A delightful day! Only one ding - bathrooms in the course are primitive. Toilet seat above a hole. No sink to wash hands. It’s disgusting. Time to replace please. This nice course deserves better.
Good Day
My friend and I were paired with a father/son duo. They were the nicest people you could ever hope to be paired with. The course conditions were very good; pace of play was excellent as we finished just under 4 hours! For late July the weather was mid 90’s with occasional cloud cover. In North Texas, that’s great weather on July 31st! And to top it all off, I shot 89 from Blue Tees (instead of senior tees). I definitely could’ve shot 4 or 5 strokes lower too!
