One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Best Conditions I’ve Ever Seen!
Bravo Pecan Hollow! You get it!
I play public courses all over DFW and I can honestly say that Pecan Hollow is in the BEST shape of them all!
The greens are excellent while everyone else is salvaging theirs!
Keep up the great work and please let your staff know they are doing a great job!
7 min tee times on fathers day
Holy cow guys come on. 7 mins between tee times 3.5 hours to play 9 from our reserved time. You don’t need to be trying to cram as much on there. My weekend group won’t be going back until they change this because it’s just not fun waiting 30 mins for 5 shots.
Happy Father's day round
Played a round with my wife and two sons. Thoroughly enjoyed the round. Beautiful course, great shape, challenging layout, great company. I will play again! Hidden gem in DFW!
Father's day gift
I played this course with my two sons and wife. What a great course!! It was in excellent shape and greens were outstanding. Practice areas such as range and putting areas were just as well kept as the course. It was also very challenging but layout is for all levels of golfers. Highly recommend and will play again!
Great course for the price
Staff is always friendly, and course in
Good condition.
They have to put in golf rangers Fri - Sun. to keep pace of play moving. Too many people playing that don't know the rules of a golf course. Need to cut holes on greens better.
Only public course worth playing in the area
Pecan Hollow is a bright spot in an otherwise pathetic lineup of golf courses near it. Every course nearby has dramatically gotten worse and only increased in price. Pecan is in great shape right now, it’s challenging, and good amenities/food. In a world where you have awful courses like Waterview charging $50+ for afternoon tee times to hit off of fairways that are as hard as a garage floor, Pecan Hollow saves the day with tremendous value.
