Pecan Hollow Golf Course
About
One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Quality
Maintenance and service of this course equates to top notch private course
Great course. My favorite in the area. Course was very crowded but pace was good
Course is in good condition
Course is in really good condition, just few tee shots that they are fixing, but in general the greens and the rest is good
Feels like Fall !
Course was in very good shape. Overseeding par 3 teeboxes meant all played 100-125 yards. Greens rolled very well given the crazy hot summer we had. A few bare spots and dry areas due to heat/lack of rain. Bunkers were all in good shape and I visited a few of them. A great course for the money. Pace was really fast for 9 holes and then OK for 9 holes. Really about a 4.5 star review. Consistent conditions, good pace, just a few minor maintenance items.
Nice course!
Really enjoyed playing this course. Staff is absolutely excellent! Greens in excellent condition. Will play this course again!
Course is in great condition. Could play there everyday.
Great day on the course.
Even though it was a bit of a drive we decided to try Pecan Hallow because of the positive reviews. The course is in good shape and plays very fair for the average golfer. The staff was friendly and helpful, all contributing to a wonderful afternoon on the course. I would definitely play here again.
Best course in the area!! Greens are excellent and fairways to match.
Great!
The course is in great shape. Paid $67 pp for a 8:13 am Sunday tee time. Tees off on time and finished at 12:20. 4:07 pace on a weekend morning was perfectly enjoyable. Greens were in awesome shape as were tee boxes and fairways. Only saw the cart girl 1X in 18 holes so that needs to improve.
Great course and value!
Played PH for the first time and can't wait to get back. Best greens I've played at a public course. Some tight fairways which make it a challenge but also some short par 4's giving those birdie opportunities. Also a great warm up area for putting chipping and a range.
Only wish it was closer to where I lived and I'd make it my home course.
