One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Highly recommend
This was my first time playing Pecan Hollow, after only hearing rave reviews. My four man group of buddies all loved it and we'll be back again. It was cart path only on a day when that seemed unnecessary, but other than that, everything was great. It's not overly long, and a lot of greens are perched up, leaving longer approach shots, but the course was in great shape, and the pace was of play was better than most courses in the area.
Great golfing
Played with my spouse and another singleton. We were able to start early as there was an opening.
The course was in excellent shape. We had to adjust our putting as the greens were slower than we were accustomed to, but still fun. We enjoyed our round. I would recommend this course.
Fun and Challeging
Course is in excellent condition despite a drought in Texas. Green are very nice as are the fairways. This course is challenging enough, just pick your tee box. The spacing of tee times on a Sunday was perfect. With pre-pay you can book 2 weeks out which is very handy. One of my favorite courses in the area.
Great condition
Greens we’re soft and receptive, fairways running fast, carts have GPS for yardages… great time!
Great new golf friendly
Course isn’t hilly and wide which is great for beginners and intermediate golfers. Greens are maintained but would rate them fair. Fairway is great for DFW.

Course is in great shape, greens are very nice. Pace of play was spot on. The course is fun and has several challenging holes.
WHERE'S MY FREAKING BALL
The only issue we had was finding our balls when we hit them in the fairway. We lost several balls after hitting them is the fairway. It's the craziest thing and very frustrating. Otherwise, this is a great course with a great layout. Great condition.
Great bang for the buck
Great track, good condition. One of the best courses in DFW for the money. Will definitely play again soon
